Sorry for appropriating the latest piece of Tory cuntery but it's all the rotten sods are good for now.

MORNING.

This wicked city continues to be endlessly cruel.

We’ve got severe wind and rain warnings to look forward to tonight. Living where I live with nothing between me and the sea, it’s half fun, half PETRIFYING.

I was having a tough time getting to sleep last night. Turned and turned and re-wrapped myself in my duvet. Turned over and thought "it is absolutely PISSING it down out there...". I'd forgotten that I'd put a "rain sounds" recording on my phone to help me sleep - it was dry out there. That's disorientation for ya.

Fruit flies help please? I think I'll just order spray. They have nothing to eat yet I cannot get rid of them. I've set traps (which have gathered lots, sure, but still so many that come out of nowhere until you open a cupboard and somehow they were sitting on it).

Even at the doctor's when I went to do swabs they were lying there dead at the window. I've never noticed them before.

We've had loads this year, and I have no idea why. We only have fruit in the fridge and they don't seem to be hanging around there.

You need to let go of the Italian murderess you've been channelling

Give it another week and they'll be gone. It's getting too cold for them now.

Mr F wandered downstairs about twenty minutes ago and asked whether I wanted a piece of toast because he was going to make some. Without thinking I said "no ta, I'm going to make myself some bacon, egg and red onion chutney rolls".

So now I'm making bacon rolls for him too.

I think I'll leave the window open (at a latch if that makes sense) and see if that helps with the temperature dropping. I bought some actual traps as I don't want to spray too much toxins in the kitchen since I'm also on antibiotics right now and don't want anymore stomach upset.

I use fly stickers at home because I can't use fly spray near the tortoise and it can set my asthma off. They're bright yellow and sticky on both sides so I can stick them inside the vivarium and all of the fruit flies that would normally congregate on Pebbles' food end up stuck to the sticker instead of invading the whole house. Then I just peel it off and replace with another one.

The family holiday is now mere days away. Honestly the mother woman needs to get a grip - turn the water off or don't, it doesn't need an hysterical monologue.

Our day at Auschwitz may come as a WELCOME BREAK.

I have just played Craig David’s new song 3 times and I’m not sure if I like it or I’m disgusted.

“You’ve got the whole world in your hands…”

:goodgrief:

I was just speaking to my granny's sister and she referred to a woman as (and I don't know if this is the correct spelling) a 'targe'. When I asked her what this meant, she said a nippy woman. I've tried to google this, but only got to looking at different shields. Has anyone heard of this term? It could well be a Scots-phrasing shibboleth thing, which is what makes me wonder if it's a different spelling.

Just caught a side glance of myself in the mirror and I really am starting to look like my mother with long hair.

This morning I was outside my house and saw a guy slow down on his motorbike, and he turned round when he saw me and opened the gates and drove up the drive so I walked towards him and asked if he was OK. He got off his bike and parked it halfway up the drive and started talking about how he remembered where the house was built and he was local to the glen and he admired it from afar and then said he could murder a cup of tea. I stupidly invited him in and he then sat and barked at me for 2 hours and asked if he could have a bite to eat and handed me his cup 3 times to refill. He smoked 9 roll up cigarettes IN MY HOUSE. I told him now you are repeating yourself and I couldn’t really care less about what he was talking about and if he wouldn’t mind leaving now and he started talking about how I should be at the chapel. I have just noticed that he has lifted the mantel clock from the table on his way out from the hall.

GOOD GOD! I am definitely getting electric gates. I was in Scotland for a long time also living in the middle of nowhere and never had anyone near but it is a bit more open here as you can see the house from the road but STILL. 😤

Never heard it myself but Google offers up a Northern Ireland definition

Targe: A scold, a battleaxe. 'She's a right oul' targe, that one

I just phoned my mum and told her about my thieving visitor and got scolded for letting MICHAEL O’ROURKE over the threshold. She didn’t think I was such a stupid girl and thought I was better than that. I have never seen the man from memory in my life but have been away from Ireland mostly for over 30 years.

Get an empty jar of honey or jam or something, put cider vinegar in it, clung film over the top with some holes..it'll catch them all.

We get a fruit fly problem in the shop most years and this always works. Although oddly this year, we've had none.

I had no idea they were fussy things too. Water from chickpeas worked well, but actual meat and they didn't want to know. I've about 4 DIY traps with the clingfilm and just as many bought traps in a jar.
