No, I love my cheap readers - £15 from goodlookers.co.uk. I've got five or six pairs in different styles and colours to suit my mood. I wouldn't be doing that if they were a few hundred quid. Although I'd probably be preserving my eyesight better, so there is that...

I really ought to get my eyes tested (don't start, @Star). When this 1.5 level doesn't cut it any more or when my distance vision also starts to deteriorate I will.

But yes, I much prefer looking at my own face wearing glasses than without. It's like you can balance your features out a bit. And disguise my Roman nose.
 
I always feel so nostalgic reading about other fellow music geeks, and it reminds me on how I joined Moopy in the first place. I have totally lost it when it comes to the charts now, and am assuming that may be an age thing? At one point I could tell you almost any charting song within around the first 5 seconds followed by their chart position. I think I still have the Guiness Books of Hit Singles books somewhere.

He never actually had a diagnosis after months and months of hospital appointments, his left eye just doesn't focus a lot of the time. Specsavers noticed it first at the eye test so they made us wait and go into a room with a more senior person who said it would focus then not focus and they couldn't understand why so referred him to the hospital. He had so many appointments, with drops in, without drops in, hooking him up to all manner of weird and wonderful equipment and the end result was "sometimes it focuses, sometimes it doesn't, we don't know why and we can't find a cause for it". He had to have so many appointments because they were trying to get solid results to come up with something but each time they tested the result was different, to the point that she did one test then did it immediately afterwards again and the results were different! Because it doesn't affect his day to day life and it was only flagged up because of the eye test they decided there was nothing more they could do, they checked for all manner of problems and there were none.

So sometimes his glasses work, sometimes they don't :D

Yes, I think for a lot of us who have been around a LONG time, it was a love of the chart which took us to the dotmusic forums originally - or perhaps a specific artist, but even then, there were quite a few artist forums around then, and being attached to the official chart website helped.

I think when dotmusic closed and we all fragmented, other forums dealt with the chart aspect better than us, but I think for a lot of us the :david: is either very apparent or not so far beneath the surface.

So he can just be walking along fine then one eye drops out of focus? Doesn't that make him feel dizzy?

The invoice for Mr L's was pretty impossible to understand. So many itemised things - the TV ads just refer to frame price (perhaps understandably, as practically everything else is variable) but it's way more complicated than that.

But I don't think the shop understood the prices either - we asked them to check after the first price he was quoted seemed too high, and they gave us a second figure which was lower, and then a third figure when someone else came to check it. It certainly didn't fill us with confidence.
 
Oh god 😬 I mean mine seemed to know what they were doing. There's aot of discounts on there which I like. But also a lot of Crizal sapphire spheric hr orma STK stuff which I have absolutely no idea about 🤷🏻‍♀️
 
That crizal thing is a lens coating for something or another, I believe
