Now WHERE were we talking about Bertine Zetlitz last...

Loving this more and more the more I play it....still not on a "Rollerskating" level but its RATHER GOOD

Oh, I do need to get this. Paying full whack from CDON always seems just a bit WRONG, but as it's Bertine...

Well, THAT was quick...

On first listen, I agree it's not up there with Rollerskating. Not as much uptempo stuff and generally less intense and EVIL. Very good though.

Nice shiny booklet and the opendisc bonus stuff is decent too. All her videos and mp3 downloads of a piano version of Fate and a strangely sweet Islands In The Stream.

Does she have any success anywhere in Europe other than her HOMELAND ?

I'm listening to "Girl Like You" as I type, and frankly she should be HUGE- its all perfect for Eurofodder tastes...

I was listening to ASSORTED BERTINE on my mp3 player to and from work today, and on hearing Girl Like You I did think that it really should have been some kind of wider hit.

Rollerskating was definitely not done any justice with it's single choices (it was Fake Your Beauty and Ah Ah only wasn't it?).

On her website there's a message about how she wanted to do the ''pop thing'' one more time on Greyhound and how some like it and some not. I hope she doesn't drop the electro and go all serious.

I love 500 lots but Midnight so far has done nothing for me, it just doesn't seem to go anywhere, it might need a few more listens though

I'll get MIG anyway even though I haven't heard the best things about it, I hope it has some lovely ballads, Wicked Wonderboys and Broken were my personal favourites off Rollerskating

As far as the ballads go on My Italian Greyhound, Get What You Deserve is one of the album highlights.

I'd say give the album a go, it's VERY NEARLY as good as Rollerskating after a few spins.

BUMPITY BUMP. Surely this wasn't the last time Bertine was discussed?

Anyway, shamelessly nicked from the Popjustice board, Bertine's upcoming single Ashamed can be streamed on http://www.myspace.com/bertineofficial.

She has a best of in the works apparently. I'd rather a new album, but there you go.

As a late starter with Bertine I quite like the idea of a best of. I have 'Morbid Late Night Show', 'Rollerskating' and 'My Italian Greyhound' and hopefully this will tie up what I haven't got.

Now ASHAMED is bloody MARVELLOUS. Certainly an example of how electro-pop should been done.

LOVE the PAPER CUTS part.

I hope an mp3 isn't too long in appearing, listening to it over and over on myspace is going to get annoying.

I wouldn't say the first 2 albums are particularly essential (although Spitfire is ace, I think thats off the second album), the first in particular has dated VERY BADLY indeed, although it was released in the US and the US edition now sells very cheaply - I got my copy off ebay for about £0.15

Ashamed sounds fantastic, ploise can anybody record the myspace rip into an mp3 or something? I'm unlikely to listen to it if its just on her myspace.

I like the first two albums well enough...nothing ESSENTIAL but absolutely worth up to a fiver or so

The last three, however, are all GREAT

BRAVO

"Ashamed" is fucking WONDERFUL...I love it muchly, especially after "...Greyhound", whilst good, was not up to the level of the preceeding 2 albums

Ta for the mp3! I love Ashamed

If UK record companies had any sense (or maybe if they didn't) they would sign up Bertines Best Of straight away, market it as a debut album and UK launch her as the Kate Nash to Robyns Lily Allen. She wouldn't sell a thing, but I'd like to see them try

I can't find it on my pc :( Mislabelled :(

SOMEONE else oblige please :(

This blog has a piece on her new best of with the bonus disc tracklisting. The first disc can be streamed in full here, including Bubble Bursts, the other rather lovely new track.

No sign of the album on CDON yet.

On CDON now, but at 20 euros I'll pass for the moment. That cover is typically pretty though.

Why is buying Bertine always so bloody expensive?

I didnt realise it had a BONUS disc

*tempted*

I'm really looking forward to this, would have bought it without the bonus disc for 20 Euros too.

I will buy you fairy lights
Fairy lights will make you soften
Trying hard to get this right
Should have held you close more often
So easy to be clever
So easy to be clever now...

Oh yes my copy arrived yesterday too. The booklet is a bit MEH but the general artwork/case is very pretty.

It's a pity that there's not a UK record company out there that would be prepared to take the time and effort with Bertine, not that she could be arsed either in all probability. I'm sure if there's an audience for Robyn at the moment, then there's one for Bertine too.

If you see me PASSING
Please don't LOOK ME IN THE EYE
I don't DESERVE this situation
Cause I'm BARELY getting by
I need to KNOW
Will you take me back where I belong?

:(

The two disc best of is down to 11.95 on CDON, which is quite quick considering she always seems to be very expensive on there.

YET ANOTHER order may be necessary...

The Euro being so BLOODY expensive at the moment has RUINED ME, it really has...

But I shall hold out still I think. I've been on QUITE the Bertine trip lately, though...and "My Italian Greyhound" particularly

She has got a dog called Suzy Q
That she always carries when they cross the avenue
Yeah, you know the nights you wake
and wish that it was you
Yeah, you know the nights you wish
That you were Suzy Q

:disco:

The booklet is missing from my copy.

BLOODY CDON are REALLY testing my PATIENCE lately. :grr:

An order goes missing in the post so they resend me the wrong one. Then when they send the 'right' one, they decide I want two copies of Magnus Carlsson's album and none of Nanne's. After listening to his album, I'm not altogether sure I even want one copy.

I can't be bothered to whinge to them about this one, who knows what they'll manage to do.

If you wanna LIVE inside my head
Wanna SEE what i have SAID
I will make you TREMBLE
I will make you TREMBLE
It's FINE WITH ME

WHERE IS SHE?!

can anyone undertstand the message she posted in march last year in the news section? http://www.bertine.com

She says that Finn has come (probably her kid was born or something), and that things move fast with "little people" in the house. She's writing songs, when people are sleeping, and she's start working again at the end of the year. Other than that she's looking forward to the Madonna and Anthony & The Johnsons concerts... :su:

I remember when Twisted Little Star was released, I used to leave the Norwegian music channel on all day long so I wouldn't miss a single play
