The Ravonettes - The Christmas Song

Ace post-punk Spectoresque 2 minute blast

Christmas in Hollis :disco:

Sad to see nothing from this classic album (which I did buy):

Thank you octy! I know it's not quite the end but I simply must retire to my bedchambers now.

It's been a different set of tunes to my usual and I've appreciated it! Merry Christmas!

I like Run DMC's sense of humour. I can't imagine many modern rap acts making a song like this because they'd care too much about their reputations.

Sufjan Stevens - I Saw Three Ships

I mean, he's made loads of Xmas records so how to choose one? I went with this because my other favourite is 12 minutes long.

Pleasingly, this is not 'Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire' Christmas Song. Justin Bieber did that one no favours.

I'm a song behind somehow but I love the Raveonettes song

Sufjan Stevens has some great/devastating songs

Honestly not loving this one so much though

I've never really gotten into Sufjan. It's always seemed that it would take quite a bit of time.

And finally...

Low - Silent Night

Beautiful rendition of yr present hosts favourite Xmas song. This takes me right back to childhood, watchnight services and carol concerts.

Chicago is his "classic" I think, but it reminds me so much of someone its almost hard to listen to

The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! is my favorite I think

I love HYAMLC. This is a great version of it. You can tell that it was a wartime song with an unspoken undertone that it could be your last Christmas. Oddly appropriate in these Covid times.

These last two have proper given me chills.

2020 years ago Mary was screaming her tits off in a barn with only her cuckold husband and a couple of lowly oxen around to give a shit. I feel like this is what she would have had playing in the background for relaxation.

This version of Silent Night is very pretty :shy: Despite not celebrating Christmas really, the music of it gives me such a warm feeling

Thank you @santaphone! This has been really nice in a weird time, and it made me feel much more festive while also giving me some new music that I wouldn't normally go to to explore
