The thing that confuses me the most is what we understand for a connection with the country. But given that it says "any connection", I suppose that if the artist I choose have a thing for Indian take away I can always submit his song representing India, correct?
 
I think they have to be FROM there or have HERITAGE from there. I think there's plenty of scope without resorting to TEDIOUS connections.

I think my men getting the death slot in ASFM actually worked in my favour as people were still in good spirits at that point :D

Every person will be representing a country from ANYWHERE in the world, but the only restriction is that either the ARTIST or BAND or SONGWRITER(S) MUST have some link to that country. It might seem restrictive but I think you'll all be able to find something.

This really isn't that difficult. I doubt anyone is really going to forced to choose BHUTAN or REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA.

My biggest issue is whether or not to go batshit left field or basic Moopy.

Go abstract now and basic when the country fun isn't there for the next SFM.

The problem is not finding a song for a country left, we all can do that, for god's sake. It's the fact that you want to send a sond you like, but you can't because some moron has decided to submit some shit from that country, so you're forced to choose whatever song just to fill the bill, representing a country you don't care about, with a song you don't care about, and I don't know, this is pure euroqueens insanity! :D

This is not a complaint because I know I'm here for Kalavision, just saying loudly that the ASFM format is great and this eurofan fantasy is rubbish. I'm just here for the drama, so having fun already :disco:
 
But you can't deny this is a huge success already and people were waiting for it, so bring it on!

The act, or least ONE member of the act if it is a group, has to preferably either:

- Have been born in the country
- Have heritage from that country

But that can be quite restrictive so they can also:
- Live in the country
- Have previously lived in the country for a period of time (a 2 week holiday does NOT count)

So, for example based on these - Carly Rae Jepsen could represent Canada, Denmark, Scotland or England, Dua Lipa could represent England or Albania, Rita Ora could represent England or Kosovo (and possibly Albania), Vanessa-Mae could represent England, Singapore or Thailand etc... that's just me doing a quick search on a few people.

But you can't say, have Celine Dion represent Burkina Faso or something ridiculous like that.
 
The best advice is if you're not sure, ASK me, and I'll let you know if someone is eligible.

But can Celine Dion represent Switzerland, given the obvious connection? I don't know how flexible you are with this. Will you notice anyone who doesn't have the connection, or you'll just disqualify them and that's it?

Her song writers were SWISS. They can also be taken into account, but I don't think most people will think about the songwriters, hence why I never mentioned.

Eurovision doesn't have any rules at all about eligibility, but it's unlikely that a country would send someone with NO connection at ALL to the country in some way - Moldova did it with Eduard Romanyuta when he CHEATED the televote and that was a HUGE scandal.

Never mind! I'll think about some options tomorrow, I have several heavy metal songs to choose from, you're gonna enjoy it. :)
