What with Dexy's Midnight Runners and JoBoxers, I was wondering what was with the "my ol' man's a dustman" chic in 1983.
Barely heard of him. What a grotty little man.And who knew what ANDY PEEBLES looked like?
I have to say I didn't know Sweet Dreams. What a load of sub-Bucks Fizz shit.
Yeah that threw me.I actually thought the BBC website had fucked up when they said the show featured Sweet Dreams and Eurythmics....

I missed the beginning of the show but as soon as I saw SWEET DREAMS I thought "OH NO THIS YEAR'S E*R*V*S**N HOPEFULS*
I think OOH TO BE AHH by KAJAGOOGOO might be in the running for the WORST TOP TEN HIT EVER. What a VAPID BUNCH of NOTHINGNESS!

Yeah, that was a sign of the times...Steve Wright's quip about Tracey Ullman being the funniest woman on TV 'apart from Boy George' was quite something.
I love Too Shy, but Ooh to be Aah is truly terrible. They're a really annoying looking band, particularly...I always thought they were SHIT, even at the time.
And not JUST because I never got the TOOTHY DRUMMER to complete my Smash Hits sticker album![]()

Tracie is redefining mediocre.
Did the Eurythmics ever actually appear on TOTP?
It must have been Yewtreed. It was in the top 5 for what seemed like weeks and then Love Is A Stranger took it's place, I've only seen videos.
Dunno if this is yet to come, or if the whole episode has been Yewtreed.
And with a young Eddi Reader as well. How many Brits have those two got between the pair of them?

Who is ruining it for us at this stage? I assume DLT as I presume Jimmy Saville's TOTP presenting days are largely a thing of the past by 1983.
I dunno, let's ask @Kate, as Mr Kate seems to be in the know. It's not like Gary Glitter was still having hits. Maybe the BBC are holding their ground on Cliff(!)Is it only those episodes they are choosing not to show, do we know? There seem to be so many weeks being skipped, I wonder if there is some other reason they are missing weeks.
Apparently Mike Smith episodes are also not shown. Which is a shame as he's on 82-88. So between Saville, DLT, Smith and Glitter I don't think any decade will be free from a culling.
