Paul Hardcastle is all kinds of unattractive. Showing a performance of the show's own theme tune is bad meta.
 
Why did Jimi Somerville just start the Communards performance on a different stage? To show off his sheer animal magnetism?
 
Fuck my hat, the "Holiday Rap". How does one "ring-a-rang-a-dong" anyway? 32 years later I'm none the wiser.
 
Frankie Goes To Hollywood sure fell off a cliff. "Rage Hard" is OK but it has none of the drama or oddness of their first, classic run.

It really had all died an absolute death by that point. Mercifully I went all euro in 1986 further to ‘Brother Louie’ (which I initially resisted for some inexplicable reason) so didn’t need to take much notice
 
Re: Cameo - that codpiece is still hilarious. Record still sounds ace too. Less is more and all that.

They were away for ages, apparently trying to play everything themselves. But the songs weren't there. Ah well, the light the burns twice as bright etc etc...

I can remember quite vividly going to school and that codpiece being the HOT TOPIC of 5T at St George comprehensive.
 
Amazulu awfully depleted there. They could at least have roped in a few mates. Maybe they didn't have any now they were firmly into the "shite covers" phase of their life.

I think I might have too - it seems there was 6 of them, then three, then two then they split. For some reason I thought there had been even more than that.

Well that was a non-starter. Who even cared? We were only there for maximum shock, filth and homosexualism, not the dreadful LADS trying to be some godawful PUB BAND
 
Actually the juxtaposition of Holly and Paul and said lads was quite weird. Let’s face it, no-one was interested in THEM although at least Ped had a (permy) whiff of Dave Ball about him

It was no surprise to find that this was the "artistic" split in the band, eh? Bloody musicians, nothing worse.
 
There were loads of BELLE STARS and they all looked DISTINCTLY RUM. Amazulu always just seemed to be that BIRD with the BRAIDS and some ALSO-RANS
 
There's been precious little to report on this episode....really quite boring.
 
"Walk This Way". A song so utterly irredeemable that even Sugababes and Girls Aloud couldn't rescue it.

Yes, Suburbia was a real treat, then the rest of it...

ESPECIALLY that Boris Gardiner one with lyrics about how a woman should be sweet and kind and PURE OF MIND.
 
That was a shit episode, but the chart at least had a few new entries for us to be optimistic.
 
I can only assume my aunt was rather less impressed with that one. As was the rest of the UK by the sounds of it...
 
I may be slightly drunk but feel it is not an overstatement to say that Mel and Kim saved pop music in 1986.

Also Janice Long is really working the hat and polka dot combo.
