It was issued as a white label to DJ's - some point about how people wouldn't play SAW stuff because it was SAW. Sure enough, it "took off" in the clubs so they totally spoiled it by making a video.
 
I guess I could hate on La Bamba, but I don't see the point. It's as catchy as AIDS.

I know Venus and Love In The First Degree are more well-remembered but as a video I think I love it more. The ridiculous solo bits and the mooning into the FUCKING CAN-CAN. :disco:
 
They really could have given us a bit more of Spagna in her electric shock bog brush hair and military get up in the breakers. I'm not sure quite what was going on in that crowd though.

What the HELL brought THAT on? I have no memory of it at all. The track is basically "You Spin Me Round" and the performance...thing is, Shaky's quite tall, so to start with, it looks like he's got 4 half-naked greased-up dwarves. Not even Marc Almond would have done that.
 
I'm finding that Ag made most of these comments when the repeats were on BBC4...

I had a cassette single of this - it had a really sad waltz-time song on it called "Leave Yourself Alone".

"Wonderful Life" was better.

Poor sod died in a car crash a few years ago.
 
Oh, I had "Hooverville" as well. 7". Still sounds like a good song hampered by 80's production. The kind of sound that makes me want to incinerate every fretless bass guitar ever made.
 
I had TOTALLY forgotten that An American Tail even EXISTED, despite getting it out every week from the VIDEO RENTAL SHOP.

Sam Fox only had 3 top 10 hits in the UK, I see. I assumed there were MANY MORE.

There is literally no evidence that I Surrender was number 1 anywhere, except on the press release at the time, I presume.
 
Spagna's execution of the choreography in the instrumental break was a little half-hearted but doesn't she have captivating eyes...

The Thursday episode was quite the treat, last night's less so, despite Happy When It Rains and Kim frolicking in pearls in the breakers. I also don't mind the Pseudo Echo version of Funky Town. It is different watching these now they are just about catching up to stuff I properly remember. Christmas/birthday 1987 I got a walkman (well not a Walkman, it was a white Sanyo) and Hits Tape 7, which had SO MANY of these songs on it.
 
Obviously Def Leppard are not my cup of tea, but they had quite the story didn't they? I'm not sure I'd ever actually seen their one armed drummer before.
 
I see Rick has been taking performance hints from Marti, although infinitely less annoying.

Oh fuck off Hue and Cry. It was bad enough when I had to endue Pat Kane as rector when I was at Glasgow Uni, let alone having to put up with their annual Xmas comeback posters where they now look like The Jazz Krays.
