It was shown in the usual late night slot which I normally record, it must have just been the early evening one that got bumped. They are usually repeated Saturday nights as well.

Bros were fucking dismal but, ultimately, all of it was worth it for that astonishing comeback documentary. Really.

It had the oddest chart run - 3 weeks in the top 5 and then dropped like a rock out the charts 3 weeks later.

For their singles I don't think it was particularly unusual.
 
They did manage a few weeks in the top 10 before plummeting though, often. I'm wondering if they staggered release of formats to keep a rabid fanbase buying.

First clutch of The Mission's singles still sound good to me but they always wanted to sound "huge" and ended up chasing bombast. "Tower Of Strength" hasn't aged well and has a shit middle 8 with a rubbish synth.

Oh I remember this, there was a total cock up with The Brit Awards that year - they announced that he'd won the award (THE big award in those days) and then someone ran on shouted that there was no time and introduced The Who. The lad was in the papers the next day, looking gutted.

This and "Beat Dis" were real headturners for me. It was essential The Art Of Noise retuned for the dancefloor, never a natural home for me but the fact that they were doing it with records rather than twenty-grand sampler keyboards made it feel accessible. Both records feel super-cheesy now but mainly because of the overuse of the clips and voices sampled on those records.

Coldcut even put a version with just the samples on the b-side of the 7".
