2Unlimited were running a bit thin on inspo by now. Anita sounds a wee bit ropey here too.
 
I'd forgotten how many singles Terence Trent D'arby charted on this album cycle.
 
Were Crowded House based in the UK in '93? TOTP never miss a single even when they're quite low in the charts.
 
This is one the U2 songs I like. They were always good for a single per album until that Boots atrocity and they haven't done a single thing worth a fuck ever since.
 
I like this Wonder Stuff song a lot more than I did at the time. I think I *get* it now. At the time, this era felt a bit "please take us seriously" but now I can hear it as the sound of things falling apart. Which they did.

Yes, it was quite a nice song. I wish Bono was run over on the Champs-Élysées.

Watching Mr Blobby now is pretty traumatising. Early evening television. Uuugh. *shudders*
 
Bad Boys Inc doing the most anodyne doo-wop cover ever. No wonder that went to blazes so fast - hardly "bad boy" behaviour to have them singing in "just kicked in the nuts" falsettos. Absolute shite.
 
I've defaulted to Xmas 88. S-Express followed by the Pet Shop Boys. What a time to be alive.
 
Dragging people onto the show to make them apologise for being ill was quite a thing for a few years.
 
Weird how many of the "celebrities" in the Mr Blobby video are still recognisable.
 
Edie Reader badly lip syncing Perfect peeling a satsuma and handing out the slices, was clearly the result of too much acid.

A bit of a shame to see Chaka Demus and Pliers stoop so soon to a piss-poor cover version.
 
Was the "Bat Out Of Hell" reissue a spoiler/cash-in by a previous label? Must Google that...
 
Looks like it was...the original Bat Out Of hell was on Epic/CBS and BOOH II was on Virgin.

Haddaway's career killed by the "third single has to be a ballad" trope. Plus it's shite.
 
"Babe" might be a pretty hideous song but the harmony vocals are genuinely excellent.
 
"I'm ba-ack Ah-GAIN...BABE". Those bits are ace. I wonder how much of it was sung by the group?
 
"Come Baby Come", I remembered as soon as I saw the title which is very unusual for the last few months of this.
 
I had forgotten that Saint Etienne got TOTP for I Was Born On Christmas Day. No Bob but Simon Jones from The Verve on autoharp? Odd.
 
I don't think I can be shagged with the Xmas edition for '93. Awful year.
 
Watching the Smashie and Nicey TOTP party from January 1994 now, which was on last Friday. So how are Kylie's Spinning Around, Britney and The Spice Girls on it? Seems odd that they BBC would redo it several years later.

Seems they put in a 2001 re-edit. Gary Glitter was definitely in the original 1994 one. They changed the captions too as I remember this episode well from the 1994 version.
