What was with the audience members dancing on the stage for the rock numbers? For the Reef performance it almost looked like some were invited and others stagecrashed.

The Nirvana TOTP with the stage(d) invasion had become "classic" by that time. Also, pop acts tended to have dancers and the rock acts could look a bit drab by comparison.

Literally just watching. Yes wonderful slice of early flamenco trance, as if that was a thing, for the 2 mins we were permitted due to the unavailable MJ video.
 
I'd forgotten Bjork had done Army Of Me in the "normal" version on TOTP as well. Wearing a Ren & Stimpy t-shirt too. Great song.
 
Deuce were fucking awful. Really shows why Spice Girls hit so hard so quickly - pop needed a boot up the arse.
 
Notable that by the time the Scream video was ready and deeply underwhelming it had instantly fallen down the charts. I seem to recall they played it anyway and so the era of fallers being played became acceptable.
 
Oasis playing musical statues. Early signs of trouble - this was the worst track out of the 4 on the EP and by a distance.
 
Someone at TOTP really like The Wildhearts - they seemed to get on with every single, even if they were low twenties.
 
The only thing I remember about Joshua Kadison is that they ran adverts to show that he was the same guy as in the video because, by the time it was a hit, he'd shaved off his long hair and grown a beard and people kept going "who the fuck are you"?
 
Runrig - the ultimate fanbase hit. Sold millions in Scotland and the best part of nothing in the rest of the UK.
 
Weezer's Buddy Holly is actually great. There, I said it. I mean, overall, they're the shit Pavement, cleaned up for MTV but, hey stopped clocks etc.
 
Ohm that's right, Oasis sacked the drummer the week they released Some Might Say! I seem to remember that Bonehead met Alan White for the first time in the BBC bar but given how much bullshit there was around Oasis, this could be cobblers.
 
This D:Ream song sounds VERY similar to Let Me Entertain You (which obviously won't be out for another couple of years).

I was briefly agog that EMF went two novelty 60s covers deep with Reeves & Mortimer, but then I realised I was mixing them up with The Wonder Stuff.

Same difference though really.
 
I always meant to come back to these when they hit the mid-90s and then forgot, so I have to thank @Tetris-Rock for reminding me just in time for the Lee & Herring one 😍 Christ though, even though I had it taped onto VHS, I barely remember most of the dreadful songs
