I’m assuming R Kelly - if so, very promising that they’re finally just editing things out rather than throwing entire episodes in the bin.
 
After 4 consecutive number 1s, you'd really think B*Witched would have come up with a stronger lead single from the second album than Jesse Hold On. Hello diminishing returns!

Meanwhile ATB come up with the epitome of the lazy soundalike follow up in Don't Stop.
 
Speaking of diminishing returns, Simply Red already felt a long way from the chart dominating years of Stars & Life with the tired Ain't That A Lot Of Love.
 
If you're going to get rid of 2 members of the group, 1 in very CONTENTIOUS fax related circumstances, you need to make sure the comeback single is enough of a banger that everyone can look past that.

For a HOUSEHOLD NAME, Ricky Martin had remarkably few hits in the UK. Shake Your Bon Bon is a duller retread of Livin' La Vida Loca - no wonder it missed the top 10.
 
Ah, the week of Geri vs Emma in a Spicy repeat of the Blur vs Oasis chart battle from 1995 - & just like back then, neither song was much cop really!
 
Catching up after a few weeks away.

The scream of awe from the crowd as an obviously miming Geri Halliwell is very slowly lifted upwards during the key change. :D
 
In the annals of underwhelming followups to global megahits, Shake Your Bon Bon is certainly way up/down there.
 
What an oddly designed jacket on Mark from A1. For a moment I thought he was strapped into an oversized cummerbund.
 
I’m just back from a trip to Moldova and the locals are at fever pitch as Ricky Martin is coming to Chișinău in June (with tickets going for up to €5000) :D :disco:
 
Friday 12th June appears to be the final episode of 1999 before the end of the millennium. Hopefully it continues into 2000 and beyond.

What do you want to know? Very cheap (and good) wine, a surprising amount of visible investment in buildings/parks, very friendly people (by Eastern European standards) and probably the place I’ve been where Eurovision entrants were the most visible (Sunstroke Project and Natalia Gordienko on billboards, multiple Zdob și Zdub songs playing in restaurants, a couple of people half-singing Viva Moldova in the park :D)

Shake Your Bon Bon really is a nothing song and awful as a follow up to Livin La Vida Loca. I think there was supposed to be a different follow up. And then when Bon Bon got sent to record stores the label panicked and told them all to hang fire a week before putting on shelves.

Him there filming the dancers with a camcorder felt a bit ick too.

What was with the A1 performance? It felt like Paul had sabotaged Ben’s mic which felt rather quiet and then Paul comes on with a mic that’s too loud. Also Bens standing stance felt odd - his legs were waaaaay to far apart.

Whoever at the label who was behind Glamma kid messed up royally:
First single Nov 98
Second single April 99 five months later
Third single Nov 99 seven months later
Fourth single Sept 00 ten months later

I swear Stereophonics spent this entire album cycle writing music around twatty song titles - I Wouldn't Believe Your Radio, Is Yesterday Tomorrow Today, Hurry Up & Wait, etc.

Kelly Jones at the peak of his hotness however :horny:
 
Prince still known as THE ARTIST at this point. No recollection of Baby Knows, but he's stolen Siobhan Fahey's sparkly catsuit from the Shakespears Sister Stay video.

Why on Earth didn't they go with She's All I Ever Had like in America? This was before they went with Nobody Wants To Be Lonely with Xtina; was that eventually released in the UK?

EDIT: That was from the follow-up album :D whoops
