I had never seen this before a random screening at the BFI last week. I don’t remember it being on TV that much and I seem to remember that it had the reputation of being an undeserving Oscar winner, just because it beat Raging Bull to Best Director and Picture.

Whomever says that is WRONG.

I absolutely loved it. What an incredible set of performances and a beautifully written screenplay.

If you’ve seen it before when relatively young, I recommend watching it again. I’ve read a lot of reviews from people who said it seriously hit different when seeing it as an adult.

Brilliantly written & acted, Mary Tyler Moore playing against type would have been a deserved Oscar winner. Her last scene stuck with me & hit me hard.

I'd also heard it was an undeserving winner so I was pleasantly surprised by it as I've worked my way through the Best Picture Oscar winners (only the first 3 winners to go!) It's actually a bit of a mini masterpiece.

Watched it again . Ugh
