Paris 2024 - Day 14 (Fri 9 August) (1 Viewer)

Dear god. All the b-boys and b-girls (and judges) are entered under nicknames only.

There is also an official listing for the DJs.

Will they play 'B Boy Baby' by Mutya Buena and Amy Winehouse?

It’s meant to be a 32 person competition, but they gave a last-minute 33rd place to a refugee girl from Afghanistan, so the first battle is effectively a one match qualifying round throwing her to the lions against a professional Dutch B-Girl (confusingly called India).

Rhythmic feels like it would be good for a Netflix sports documentary

EASTERN EUROPEAN TERRITORIES ONLY

It’s quite pleasing imagining how the Taliban feel about an Afghan girl breakdancing.

If the Rhythmic club baton dances don’t feature Carnival De Paris I’m gonna be disappointed

The breaking is giving JESC vibes. It’s a no from me.

Giving all the crowd space away in the pit to the media doesn’t feel like the best thing to do for this kind of event

It’s not quite giving “deffo deserve its place in the Olympics” the same way BMX, skateboarding and climbing have done.

But willing to give it a chance as the rounds progress and the men have their event (sorry).

This breakdancing is quite amateur compared to what was around 40+ years ago.

Not seen anything more impressive than the end credits of Footloose, letalone Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo.

Not even LA wants to have breaking at the Olympics. I’m hope for a damnatio memoriae treatment and we never speak of it again. Give it the karate chop.

I saw 'Logistx versus Raygun' and thought they'd accidentally brought Robot Wars to the Olympics.

There’s been a major scheduling failure - breaking, ribbon dancing, golf, handball and lady football. I might actually need to do some work.
