Patricia Routledge DEAD

I remember The BBC trying to do some programme about a young Hyacinth a few years back and it was AWFUL.

Just remember - one featured a middle aged homosexual playing someone with a put-upon spouse and who was hated by their neighbours and the other… oh shit, wait…
Wait, I had no idea either Patricia Routledge nor Richard Wilson were gay!

Any chance of a posthumous re-release of Moves Like Gordon Honeycombe or Sex In A Soho Cubicle do you think, @Sheena?

I recall a YouTube comment on one Appearances clip where she was scaling walls and such like where the commenter had said “for someone of her age she really gave it her all physically” but I imagine she wasn’t that “old” at the time?

She was 61 when the series started so not ancient I wouldn’t say?

Apparently she wrote this just before her 95th birthday

Growing older is not the closing act. It can be the most exquisite chapter — if you let yourself bloom again.
Let these years be your treasure years.
You don’t need fame. You don’t need perfection.
You only need to show up — fully — for the life that is still yours.
With love and gentleness,
— Patricia Routledge

Being 60 in your 90s is a different game to being 60 now.

I was looking at some photos of my Dad at my age in the mid 90s, he looked fucked!

Yeah she definitely didn't look 60s for what the 60s looked like in the 90s. Maybe for what the 60s look like now but it was different back then for most people. I always had her down as 40ish

Can we start a new C*NT of the Week thread and dump both BBC News and Sw*ft into it. Please and thank you.
I don’t blame Swift. She just seems like a mediocre talent who likes cats. BBC News this morning however just need to SHUT UP. They were talking about a prolific artist’s new release like Elvis had risen from the dead or something.

Channel 5 have rescheduled to show 'Keeping Up Appearances: Goodbye Hyacinth' tonight at 7.30pm

Comedy genius with acting chops right up there with the bets. Will go down as a legend. There's good reason Keeping Up Appearances was so well liked not just in Britain but worldwide
