I've heard this song 10000 times before but I've never really LISTENED until this week. Its just so good. And sexy. And what a BRIDGE

With love we sleep
With doubt the vicious circle
Turn and burns
Without you I cannot live
Forgive, the yearning burning
I believe it's time, too real to feel
So touch me now, touch me now, touch me now
Because the night belongs to lovers

I know she's important and influential but I don't really know much else by her

The ‘Horses’ and ‘Easter’ albums are both excellent but yes, this song isn’t really a reflection of her sound. To me her best known other songs are Redondo Beach and Rock N Roll N****r. The last word isn’t used within a racist capacity, but I still feel funny typing it in full these days.

I remember my sister had the seven inch single of this, and for some reason I have gone through life thinking Pat Benatar sang it I guess their names aren't far off from each other.

Dancing Barefoot, Frederick and Gloria are her other well known songs I think. Frederick is probably the closest to Because The Night. I really like this one too:

I only discovered her version of this via Toyah :D

Iconic, amazing, a bop, a banger etc.

Bruce Springsteen wrote the music and the title, and one of his producers gave it to Patti who then wrote the rest of it. Proof of what happens when two geniuses meet :disco:

I assume the vocals for Bruce's version on The Promise with (most of) the same lyrics as Patti's were recorded later. It is an enjoyable take but is a bit strained in spots.

This was very quick and off the top of my head:

Thank you! I'll listen tonight. The one with the n-word is blocked here, but thats ok because I feel weird about it anyway

It's blocked here too, but I put it on because a) it's a seminal song (problematic now though) and b) I assumed it would be unblocked in the US :D I'll take it off.

Oh God now this is one of those songs/albums/artists that I don’t get.

I wish I did - it’s not like I think she’s rubbish, she’s one of the most important female artists of all time.

But it’s just not for me
