It was a shame I was OFFLINE last night as I wanted to share this with my MOOPY FRIENDS in times of DEVASTATION when no one in my real life GIVES A SHIT

He was a true LEGEND. There were times his rancidness was stronger than his humour, but for the most part, the people on the other end were deserving (though as :D as the Traci Bingham destruction was, it was also fucking out of order as she was just a NICE BUT DIM on the whole). His autobiography was a one day, not put down for a second by the pool JOY and, let's face it, the man knew his way round a CAMP CLASSIC or two and is one of the few acts where, for the most part, the singles REALLY WERE the best of the best...

I was a little bit sad but not shocked when I heard this last night :(

Just read this fitting tribute on his friend Dusty O's facebook page :D

Many moons ago I promoted and ran a club called Sound On Sunday .
For ages I saved a portion of the door money to "save up" and try to book Pete for one of his rare club live p.a's. At first he said no but I nagged away and finally he agreed to do "4 numbers with no outfit changes and not Spin Me" . I was a bit gutted but agreed anyway .
He packed the place out .
I was a bag of nerves and he told me "don't over do the intro cos I won't be here long" .
When he finally came on - an hour late after telling me "there's time and there's my time - get used to it" what he did blew us away . He did over an hour with 6 costume changes ! When he walked off the stage he looked at me , laughed and said "happy Christmas Dusters , that's my present now get me a bottle of Malibu" !!!!!!!
He then left the dressing room and walked round the club saying hello to everyone. It caused a near riot . That's the kind of man he was . Constant surprises .

Omg! I'm pleased I got to see him live as part of that Pete Waterman thing but a club PA like that would have been immense.
 
Well, all that surgery indicated he had a lot of issues with his own appearance even if he had an unflappable air of confidence about him otherwise.
 
He was due on Loose Women yesterday. It seems there's a bit of a curse about being booked on there. David Guest and Jackie Collins found out the hard way :(

I agree with whoever says he was a bit of a tortured soul - no-one is that vile to other people and does what he did to himself without having a bit of self-loathing.

I loved his appearance on CBB so much though. A CBB legend.

And I wonder if the Robyn song he is referring to is Dancing On My Own? I assume so, considering if any of the others have been covered, nobody has noticed. His take on it would have been an intriguing prospect.
 
I very foolishly cancelled my order for the Boom Box a few weeks ago and Amazon appear to have sold out but base.com seem to have some left (one of which I've just ordered) if anyone wants one

I'm bad enough after a couple of halves of lager. I just watch stuff and think 'who's the make-up artist?' or 'how do they do that?' I loved Anna-Nicole of course. She was just an absolute beauty however off her tits she was. I used to like Courtney Love but I met her and she was a bit distracted and paranoid. I have absolutely no interest in the girl whatsoever but I'll tell you something about her. Her last album was fucking fantastic. There's a cruelty to the record industry at the moment that you can see with Britney and Amy Winehouse. I was holding out on the box as I presumed it would eventually be a "half pricer" like the other boxsets Demon/Edsel has done, but I've bitten now. Though they will reprint it, surely. Base.com is almost £20 cheaper than Amazon anyway, so THANKS OUR SU.

Wonder if it will scrape the chart now, given all of this?
 
Having said that, I do wonder if base.com will actually have any stock as well or it's one of those places that just leaves things up and then tries to fulfill rather than knowing what it actually has...

I wondered that as well, especially given how amateurish the base.com website looks, so we shall see (with crossed fingers)

To reiterate just about everyone in this thread, this really is a GOD DARN SHAME. What a fabulous character he was. Aside from the musical talent, the biting wit, the caustic humour, the "I don't give a fuck (but I do really)" attitude was just endlessly endearing, even when I knew (and he probably did too) that he was behaving so very, very badly :D

My first memory is my sister being given Spin Me Round as a gift and us recreating the video (i.e. pretending to wave flags and doing the vishnu "arm bit" :D). It's one of the very few songs that I've never, ever got tired of.

My next encounter was buying a knock off cassette of "Mad, Bad And Dangerous To Know" at a dodgy Bangkok night market and I never really looked back.
