Oh, actually, I should clarify, as I did earlier in the thread, "he hasn't really done anything wrong" in terms of NONCEGATE. I still think it's FUCKING CUNTY what he did to his wife and how the world applauded him for being "brave".

Also the optics of the situation aren't great, given that he first encountered the person at his school when he was 15.

There's also a slightly narcissistic tone to the BBC interview which implies, from his perspective, everything was done with innocent albeit "unwise" intentions and at no point was protecting his own career ever a factor in the cover up and keeping things quiet.

He also denies workplace toxicity again, which is gaslighting those who maybe had a different experience to him.
 
Yes, I'll listen to what he has to say about the affair, but at this stage I don't think his voice is one I need to hear in terms of workplace toxicity and the culture at ITV.
 
I hope he has a good support network around him, because the way the media and people are attacking him, I wouldn't be surprised if he went the same way as Caroline Flack. And although I have very few opinions on him, no one deserves to feel like suicide is the only way out :(
 
Yeah it's sad to hear something like this;

Schofield paid tribute to his daughters, who he said had helped him cope with suicidal thoughts in recent days.
"Last week, if my daughters hadn't been there, I wouldn't be here," he said. "They've been by my side every moment because they're scared to let me out of their sight."

Whilst not a go at you, I realise your intentions are good, do we not think speculating that you “wouldn’t be surprised if he went the same way as Caroline Flack” is just as harmful as anything else?

Phillip made a comment himself that if it wasn't for his daughters guarding him last week, he wouldn't be here. Maybe I worded it wrongly, but ...the way he's being treated by the UK, and watching his interviews and seeing how broken he is...yeah...I wouldn't be shocked. I'm not really sure how else to word it. He's said it himself.

I know he made that comment, but the wording normalises it, no? Imagine sitting online and seeing everyone just saying “wouldn’t be surprised if he killed himself”.

I think it’s entirely fair to do a “be kind” thing, but I just don’t think it sits well with me otherwise.

Again, no shade. I’m trying to debate rather than have a go.
 
Imagine we held, say, Boris Johnson to the same standard as this. Consider how Johnson's infidelity was treated. Consider how his lies were treated. Consider how the toxicity of his workplace culture was treated.

That's what sticks in my throat. There's been a specific choice to 'ruin' Schofield that is not made for people whose decisions actually change people's lives.

Yeah fair point, I probably did word it wrong and certainly didn't meant to "normalise" it, suggestions how I it could have been worded are welcome. I guess it's just one of the first things that came into my head when I saw his interview and I posted my thoughts on here.
 
I walked away after watching the interview with many questions, the main one being, I wonder if he's ever been to the 2 Brewers?

I have to say the same crossed my mind earlier on too, so I know where you're coming from. But yes it wouldn't be nice if someone logged on and saw that either :(

Saw some of that interview on BBC Breakfast. He looks utterly broken and said he may have attempted to take his life if it wasn’t for his daughters :(

The press should really just shut it. They never ever learn.
 
How long before the media are held to account? Is anything happening with The M*il and The Sun’s phone hacking? CLOSE THEM DOWN!!

It just shows you when it comes down to it and when the going gets tough it all comes back to your family. All those years he has had so many people blowing smoke up his arse but where are they now?
 
Has there been any word from Matthew McGreevy or is he not allowed to make any comment at the moment? I wonder how he's handling all of this :(

I think utter narcissists like Johnson just enjoy the attention whichever direction it comes from. I’d never wish a press witch-hunt against anyone, but I expect both he and Dan Wootton would cope quite well :DAF:
 
They really really need to stop now (and I do think his BBC Interview might stop some of it because as soon as the S Word gets mentioned now the media do get a bit panicky).

There’s clearly nothing else to come out of this story.

It’s sad for all involved (except Dan Wootton and cunty Eamon).

This is where I’m at with him. I don’t think it’s any secret that he’s a nightmare behind the scenes, and he did shag around behind his wife’s back and then expected everyone to fawn over him when he came out.

I know very little about Dan Wootton, and when I Google him I can see Caroline Flacks ex got arrested because of him. Who is he and what's he done?

Also, I don't mind Eamon Holmes but again I'm assuming I've missed something regarding him as people seem to dislike him as well 🤔
 
Dragging Caroline Flack's name into the interview feels a bit gross. I understand - in principle - his wider point about a double-standard in the press where they'll preach about #bekind, but it only seems to apply in retrospect.

However, I agree with what @Sheena is (I think) saying about normalising the use of "Caroline Flack" almost as a colloquial catch-all for suicide. The circumstances of her death were specific to her situation and her experience. I feel somewhat uncomfortable that her name is being brandished by Phillip Schofield as a defensive mechanism.
 
I disagree. her circumstances were specific but she was hounded by the press and it ended tragically. if her name becomes a catch-all for celebs pushed to the edge of the will to live then, honestly, good — she was beloved and it was tragic, and putting a name and face to something humanises it.

everybody needs to act with more humanity in general but specifically when it comes to people whom the press are trying to destroy in the court of public opinion. let's use her name as a shortcut for the worst possible outcome in situations like this, it could actually be a deterrent to those who need to think twice about what they're doing.
 
Social media is now dragging Alison to hell calling her ‘disgusting’ and ‘fake’ and calling for her to be sacked after she broke down on TV. I swear with this country…
