PJ Harvey - general discussion (new vinyl reissues)

No new stuff I'm afraid. Just a photo of the queen of pop looking iconic.
 
I travelled to (and paid rip off hotel prices ) both nights of her recent excellent Dublin gigs because she “never” comes here only for her to announce a gig literally ten minutes away from my house next August. Naturally I was straight in for tickets. It’s a week of headliners so I hope she does a career spanning set.
 
I saw her last night in Belfast at a packed outdoor gig and she was fantastic as usual. She got a rousing reception which she didn’t really acknowledge during her performance as she was in the zone but when taking her bow seemed genuinely taken aback at how loud the crowd was and was practically giggling and showing much more emotion than I’ve seen from her, taking multiple bows with her band.

It was a windy, pissy wet night, I had my umbrella confiscated and then stolen at the gate but luckily had brought a fetching poncho to wear. Opening with 9 songs from the current album was “brave” considering the weather but nobody moved. What a QUEEN.
 
Some albums and it's campaigns via singles/performances just truly take my breath away and have me forever in awe of what they ignite/excite in me, especially if they subsequently exist as something so standalone and sonically distinct. The album led by this boiling elixir of a single were all simply things I'd never seen anything like before. I mean what a masterpiece this is:

 
It was the first PJ Harvey album I really connected with, and it may well have been the first one I bought. I was of course aware of To Bring You My Love but it was Is this Desire that turned me into a fan. I was still a student at uni but I remember borrowing the other CDs from the library and burning them and slowly making my way through her discography.
I first listened to Rid Of Me on my discman on a long walk back to my room at night and it literally stopped me in my tracks.

Weirdly enough, I did enjoy the posting of We Float on her Instagram. I've long not been a fan of the album - I was spoiled rotten with the previous 2 being so flamboyant and theatrical in turns I guess.
