PLACEBO RE:CREATED

Thirty years on, Placebo RE:CREATED sees the band return to this pivotal album with a fresh perspective. The new record features reworked and embellished versions of all ten tracks from the original album plus two bonus tracks from the original release, capturing the way these songs have evolved across decades of performance while retaining the raw spirit that defined them. Among the tracks are the era-defining singles “Nancy Boy” and “36 Degrees”, songs that helped establish Placebo’s reputation for fearless lyricism and genre-defying sound. These new recordings amplify the urgency and attitude that made the originals resonate so strongly, while reflecting the band’s growth and experience in the years since their debut.

“We think of this record as a director’s cut. We haven’t recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of playing these songs live back into the record.”

Got this on. It's pointless and I have always found Brian balking at this album over the years to be truly baffling. But it's decent - you can't exactly go wrong with most of this album.

I just find it hard to summon up the enthusiasm to listen to any of it. A shame they couldn't direct their energies towards an album of new material - the last one showed they still have plenty to offer, not least on Beautiful James.

I enjoyed that. I put it on like it was a really pristine live lounge recording, but with all the bells and whistles. I will absolutely be sticking to the original from here on in :D

I’ll need to play the original again to see if I notice an actual difference. Brian said recently he was too harsh on the album, he got an idea in his head it sounded like demos and couldn’t shake it but recently has been able to realise it was a good record.

I think that might have been the Jo Whiley interview? He said something similar in between cut-to's of Jo flashing her razorblade smile at him.

I probably still do have a thing for Stefan, but what in the Winona Ryder who hasn't slept since the 90s is that?
