Please, these Tuesdays, they're trying to murder me!

I'm going to buy a jigsaw puzzle. I decided last night, it's time I did puzzles and read books instead of always being on my phone. I'm tempted to get one from a charity shop but I'm concerned it may have missing pieces.

I need a proper hobby.

A while ago I noticed that because of lockdown we'd got into this shit habit of just spending the winter evenings staring at the TV/phones. Unless we have some specific in mind to watch now the radio goes on when Ron Jr goes bed. I've noticed that alone stops mindless phone use and I've got back into reading more as a result.

Almost all of them require me to do something, so I am not impressed.
If we extend the analogy from the thread title, you almost certainly started the fight whilst they were just minding their own business in a remote part of the continent.

Yeah I'm in a dreadful habit of being on my phone at any given chance.

I bought 3 books yesterday and I'm determined to read them without getting distracted.

We've also started playing monopoly :disco:

is it the EXTRA LONG version? The masochist in me really wants to give it a go.

I HATE Monopoly. I could be doing much more productive things with my time than playing that ENDLESS CRAP like painting my nails, or posting on Moopy. :disco:

Emails are problematic because...

Email could potentially cause information overload. Some messages may be dismissed or left unread, especially if there are a lot coming in and the network has not integrated some sort of email alert system into the computers at work.

Email lacks a personal touch. While some things are better off sent as written and typed messages, some things should be verbally relayed or written by hand in a note or letter.

Email can be disruptive. Going through each email can be disruptive to work as it does require a bit of time. This disruption is decreased through the utilization of an email alert system.

Email cannot be ignored for a long time. The thing with email is that it needs constant maintenance. If you ignore it, more and more messages will enter your inbox until it gets to the point that your inbox is no longer manageable.

Email can cause misunderstandings. Because email does not include nonverbal communication, recipients may misinterpret the sender’s message. This is particularly true of senders fail to go through their messages before they send them.

Email messages can contain viruses. It’s best to be aware of this possibility so that you are careful when opening messages from people you don’t know, or when downloading attachments.

Email should be kept short and brief. This is especially difficult if you are one to send messages that are too long.

Email requires timely responses. While some people tend to disregard messages, those that require responses should be replied to as soon as they are received and read. If not, urgent and important messages may be left untended.

Just back from a full BUPA health, fitness and well being check to be signed off as fit to be sent on a working trip abroad. Was actually really interesting apart from the mention of prostate and rectum exams at the start which I was not expecting. Felt really awkward and uneasy for the first half hour knowing that was looming before they mentioned that part was optional, ffs.

This post is just dripping in privilege.

Evening.

I'm pretty sure a school wants to offer me a temp post. It looks nice with small class sizes but I don't know if I want to jump into something new right away. The plus side is that it wouldn't be contracted so I could leave if I wanted to.

It's very rainy here.

The biggest positive I suppose is that schools are still in that post covid world where they need subs (tehe) so I won't be out of work.

@Rachey can you open an Irish shop and can I work there please

Men seem to get in a tizzy about prostate exams, thank the Lord you aren't a woman! :D

Omg I'd love to open one in Ireland! You could run it. I'd just come over once a month to listen to the accents of the customers.

There's a waffle/sweet cafe in Newport on the island. It opened the same weekend as us. They've just done a plea on Facebook and set up a crowdfunding for £35k to try and remain open :o

35 grand? You haven't been open THAT long - if they need that much to keep going already, doesn't that suggest the business isn't sustainable?

I can't work out what they need that much money for. But I know their rent is probably around £30k a year. And they're in one of the shittest towns on the island.

It's a large premises they've got, and they've aimed it at young mums and young kids, who aren't big spenders generally. So I can't see how it's sustainable.

Would you like to paint? It's nice and easy and you get to create sth out of nothing (which is the most thrilling part of the process for me).
If you paint landscapes u can combine it with your love to walk around the island and paint from your snaps. But depending on the medium you use it can be messy and may need lots of cleaning up afterwards. Photography could be a nice hobby too, you already like to take pics and you have a good eye for landscape shots. And it's clean. My bf got hooked with photography by doing the 365 Flickr challenge a few years back where people had to publish one shot each day. They are a community there, other people will comment on yours, you'll get encouragement and inspiration from the work of others and in general it's quite catchy.

I used to like to draw, I wasn't very good tho. Paint by numbers appeals to me a bit! But I have to be careful with paint etc because of the cat 🤦🏻‍♀️ he's into everything.

I love taking photos but only as a "I'm on a walk, let's do a quick snap". I'm not sure id be into proper photography 🤔
