Poorly Bad Wednesday

Dropped Mr F off for his surgery at 7am. Fingers crossed they can make their "keyhole" through his mesh or it's a 4-6 month recovery instead of 4-6 weeks!

Hun I'm going to have to suggest you go into isolation for 14 days from Moopy. I realise it's not your fault but I've got the elderly and frail to look out for on here :(

Bollocks. Mr L's first gall bladder op was cancelled as well, although at least he had 48 hours notice.

3 hours. They get everybody in for 7am then you just sit and wait all day with no food or water till they're ready to take you down to theatre. So if you get cancelled at 3pm you've had nothing to eat since midnight the night before and nothing to drink, not even sips of water, since 6am.

I thought that might be the case. I have a lot of claimants who tell me they’ve waited hours and then been turned away with only a nebulous promise of being sent an appointment through the post.
 
What's this with MADAM only taking HALF-HOUR lunch breaks this week :o Poor love can't be WELL
 
I’m about to go into hospital for a stomach camera at 3pm and I’m STARVING.
 
At least it's going in that way - I've had the camera crew up my posterior before and that was quite the dignity stripper.

Well, it was the first time I had it on the NHS rather than private and they wouldn't sedate me, despite all of the literature in advance telling me I would have the option. Which meant it was fucking horrible- I kept heavily retching the entire way through, which was just awful. Still, I guess I'm now sat here right as rain as opposed to the alternative which is spending the next 12 hours out of it.

Anyway, long post, but I'm overjoyed with the outcome. Some have heard me mention it before on here but for over 10 years I've had something called Barrett's Esophagus, which means my stomach massively overproduces acid and I get reflux issues and an increased risk of cancer as my esophagus has been burnt/scarred. I'm on tablets forever and have to watch what I eat and drink/ how I exercise/ sleep etc. etc. It's very annoying.

So the last six months my symptoms have been worse and worse, culminating in a recent visit to A&E when I could not breathe or swallow, due to the reflux. Today has finally uncovered that it appears it's not actually Barrett's, but is a mechanical issue as I have a faulty stomach valve and it's something the specialist thinks can be easily sortable with surgery. I'm over the moon- the thought of being "normal" (with regards to this, anyway :D) is something I'd given up on and being able to sleep normally and not in a bed on stilts at one end/ with a wedge pillow and all the other things I've said are so exciting it's RIDICULOUS.

I'd never have thought I'd be so happy with the idea of surgery :D

No idea yet. I've been rowing with my health insurance (which is why I ended up with the NHS) about whether I'm covered or not for this as they are claiming it's a pre-existing condition to when I signed with them (true, but they promised they'd take things on on a "like for like" basis from our last insurer, who did cover it and I'd never have changed if I'd have known), but this suggests it's a different thing and so hopefully I can get in privately and not have to wait. Otherwise, well, we'll see...
