My retro club night rolls into 1995. Obviously everyone here is too young to remember any of the music (cough) but what a banger of a year

And YES that was DIVA you glimpsed ready to perform to any OAPs who come along.

The greatest year for commercial dance ever!

I seem to recall one top 10 being almost only dance music.

I was a bit of a late starter, and '94 & '95 were my peak gay clubbing years. I think I was probably quite fortunate.

Indeed, each week there seemed to be a top 10 dance hit (most of which were released the year before and flopped).

Of course the snooty music press regard this year as being all about Britpop. In the album charts maybe but the singles chart didn’t really see many big Britpop hits (especially when you discount Blur, Oasis and Pulp).

"On a dance tip" was a 1 disc compilation that has endured as one of my all time favourites of the decade. Radio station Atlantic 252 another defining listening experience for this most incredible of years for singles.

My goodness, I was actually talking about On A Dance Tip volume 2, but the first and third were also excellent. I'll have to start making spotify playlists of old compilation tracklistings!
