I'm very indifferent to it. Even as an immigrant kid in NZ I remember thinking wearing a poppy looked more like a participation award flex than anything to do with "remembrance". But I just figured our cultures were different and never questioned it.

The only poppy I’d ever consider wearing is the purple one for animals who served in conflict. I hate giving to the large charities anyway for the amount of donations that get skimmed for the chief exec etc.

From personal experience of wearing the white one years ago, I wouldn't bother. You'll only spend forever being questioned about it and justifying yourself.
