Post a Mariah song you dislike (5 Viewers)

There are actually fairly few Mariah songs that I dislike. She's not that kind of living legend for me.

That being said, here is a list of ten songs that I either don't get the fuss over, or just aren't that girl for me.

  1. I Don't Wanna Cry
  2. You Need Me
  3. Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)
  4. The One
  5. Yours
  6. Lullaby
  7. Last Kiss
  8. Thanx 4 Nothin'
  9. Faded
  10. Money

You Need Me and Did I Do That? I both skip.

Lullaby has ZERO BUSINESS being here. The self-reference alone keeps it out, but I also just adore it.

I can’t totally remember half her stuff after Rainbow, but I will say “Touch Your Body” is absolutely SHOCKING and one of the worst number ones of this century

I don’t think there’s anything from the first 6 albums (excluding Unplugged and Xmas) that I find particularly horrible. Everything ranges from ok to spectacular.

I think it was made much worse by her 2015-2017 career slump and her rubbish management. Stella was 100% a Russian informant.

I think U Make Me Wanna was actually quite helpful in setting the stage for her 2005 comeback. It was a sequel of sorts to I Know What You Want, and kept her in the US Top 40 in a period where she couldn't make it alone. Not that it's any good.

Her features at the end of the decade (Lil L.O.V.E. and My Love) were much better.

I Don’t is just… nothing.

I absolutely HATE Meteorite. What a fucking piece of absolute shit.

And Where Goes My Heart is pretty crap. Deep cut for you there.

Your Girl I don't dislike, but it is the weakest on Emancipation of Mimi. It's always seemed unfinished to me. Although I know there was some sampling legal drama at the time.

Meteorite is amazing @Whatevar! And Babydoll slander will not be tolerated - it's God tier.

Triumphant (Get 'Em) literally saved me so many times. I will always love it.

Here are some off the top of my head but I am admittedly not as familiar with many of the deep cuts from the last 3 studio albums.

Hero (she’s given us plenty of schmaltz but this one is just a step too far for me)
Bye Bye
Thanks 4 Nothin’
Triumphant
Inseparable
Angels Cry
You’re Mine (Eternal)
The Art of Letting Go
I Want to Know What Love Is
With You

No!

When I Saw You is incredible. Yes, it's generic braindead melisma, but she and Walter had that formula down to a tee.

Hero is a bit meh but it’s much better than Without You. Technically they’re both incredible but I generally don’t fuck with white people ballads.

When I Saw You does fit the bill as well but I always had a real soft spot for it. It’s waned a bit over the years (my god does she warble on it) but I prefer it to the other two.

Whenever You Call is another one I used to love but the magic is gone now.

Her gospel ballads or her more jazzy, soulful ballads are so much better.

Speaking of which, Butterfly (the song) has shot up my rankings over the years. It used to get massively overshadowed on an album full of classics. Melodically it’s very similar to All I’ve Ever Wanted, which I LOVE
