Post a pop song one of your parents enjoys

Roxy Music via a Bryan Ferry greatest hits (with the red dot) was a find during one of my early teen raids on their collection. A rare blemish of good taste.

I honestly envy people who got their taste in music from their parents. Mum was just in to Cliff Richard and Freddie and the Dreamers etc. Not sure where I got my love of black music from because it certainly wasn’t them.
Maybe, from my mum.

My Dad was into jazz and gospel but his one foray into popular music was that he inexplicably loved Boney M. Every Christmas Eve he’d demand we put Nightflight to Venus on the stereogram. I like to think it’s where I get it from.
Oh shit yes, my Dad loved Boney M. Saw then twice, has multiple albums.

The principle contribution of my parents to my taste in music. My dad used to sing that Beatles song all the time when we were kids, to the point where my sister was amazed when she heard the actual song because she assumed Dad had written it (in fairness she was 7 or 8 when she discovered otherwise).

I have very clear memories of hearing my dad's Walker Brothers tape in the car, usually on the way up to The Plaza shopping centre in East Kilbride. Always loved that song.

My mother has always been very give or take when it comes to music and isn't particularly engaged to a certain group, singer nor musical genre. My dad, however, practically listens to music 24/7 and has been a Beatles fan for a lifetime amongst a plethora of 80's bands namely Genesis, Tears for fears, Yes, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, you know, the usual.

I remember him rinsing Lana del Rey's Born To Die when I first lend it to him, as of yesterday I Was peeking through his "contemporary" Spotify playlists and consists of Jessie Ware, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran:zombie:

My mom deeply hates this song and can’t stand to hear it

And my dad recently announced that this is the only song he likes from this millennium because it reminds him of proper old 60s rock and/or roll.

My mum who’s normally into 80s rock with a strong female vocal such as Heart, Tina Turner and Pat Benatar asked me to download this for her on today’s visit:

My mum likes songs with a strong life message. This is probably her favourite, closely followed by anything loud from Queen and My Life by Billy Joel. She also likes old stuff, jazz, soul etc.
