Without an official sample/credit. Inspired by my recent discovery that J-LO was a thief long before the "Loverboy" / "I'm Real" drama.

Apparently Chante's track was also Darkchild, but P Diddy heard it and insisted he re-write the same song for J-Lo and rush it out before Chante. This thwarted plans for Chante's song to lead her respective album and it languished as an album track while J-Lo's launched her pop career.

Straight Jack Em by Chili (featuring Missy Elliott) was supposed to launch her solo career but never seemed to get past demo phase even though there was a lot of buzz about it (when it leaked) and was as good as anything Kelis, Ciara et al were putting out at the time

The Nicole Scherzinger version was alright, but that pretty much flopped as well didn’t it?

In all fairness it wasn't a rip-off in Kelly's case. Ryan Tedder gave her 'Already Gone' to record whilst he had given 'Halo' to Beyonce as well, unbeknownst to Queen K-Cla. I remember her tweeting about it. Don't hate the player etc. I guess but still.

And then she was pressured to release it after Halo had become a hit, although she really didn't want to as she'd look like the copier.

We won't even talk about the fact that The Hush album sounds like every Motown song ever.

But I absolutely LOVE The Hush album and won't hear a word said against it!

The Conversation also basically sounds like it could have come from Frankie Valli.

They do it well though, and there's a "Texas" sound they maintain throughout all their records.
