Just times when the public mood shifted in a slightly unaccountable way for some reason.

e.g. I was randomly thinking about this last night.

#1 Those few months in 2017 when everybody got really into Vera Lynn.

She was getting those care home coins :disco:

2. That 18 months or so in the early 2010s where every other pop song had a sprinkling of dubstep with a really half-arsed drop in the middle of it. Pioneered by iconic artists like Britney, Taylor and Tina Barrett.

Just an odd and unexpected choice of dance genre to break through as an influence on pop music.

Toytown Techno being a popular thing

Trip to Trumpton, Roobarb and Custard, Charly, Sesame’s Treet all being top 10 songs

Pop culture about 9-10 years ago was strangest to me (and I was at highschool 😅) also whenever Love Island was new and I heard about children watching it too.

Spreading our collective wings into wider culture, I think the 2010s are going to stand up historically as such a low period culturally (despite it being a second golden age of TV).

Thankfully we've moved on, but the era of fidget spinners, YOLO, the Kardashians, Minion memes and flash mobs really was cringe at the time and even more ick to look back on.
