I somehow didn't even mention the ones that weren't a single that I listen to most

One By One is one Enya song that I could say one-hundred things about, but would end up mentioning famous people or concepts that have nothing to do with the song, haha.


I wish the 'da-de-da-de' bridge was longer

This one called Pilgrim is beautiful

Apparently inspired by Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, it shows how we are all pilgrims in our journey through life.

I kind of imagine a similar album (not cover) to A Day Without Rain regarding the upcoming Enya album. Happy-sounding on the whole but some kind of loss, fruitlessness etc. running through.

Enya really should record another instrumental for the new album.

In a comment on this upload, someone mentioned that An Ghaoth Ón Ghrian and Oriel Window are the most ear-striking solo piano compositions by Enya; I'd agree.

These pieces both have intriguing changes in time signature, and those trills.

I just really like it, and listen to it frequently. Kind of like a staple food in music form.

An Ghaoth Ón Ghrian (The Solar Wind) is the earliest released piece by Enya, on a cassette compilation (Touch Travel T4) released 40 years ago:

(Miss Clare Remembers was the other piece, which she re-recorded for Watermark.
Solar Wind is better though, perhaps saved for 'the future'. )

An instrumental along these lines, or another great piano bridge like for Echoes In Rain would be very welcome for the new Enya album

I chose a random 80s appearance to draw but like me being a fan for 3 years so far, this was Enya about 3 years before Orinoco Flow (Sail Away).

This maybe took a few hours to do, across 3 separate days in February 2024. No fancy utensils nor guidelines, just a HB pencil, small piece of paper, an eraser, my hands and observation. 👁 ️

Triad from The Celts (1986, like Boadicea) but I prefer the colour scheme of the cover photo chosen for the 2001 pseudo-Italian film in Japanese's soundtrack.


The opening of Triad (St. Patrick) is my favourite of all Enya song openings, even acapella/vocals only


St Patrick and Oisín are best - Cú Chulainn is okay as an instrumental, but I prefer Seaside Ditty which sounded like this:

The way Enya's 'oh-oh' vocals work with the rhythm is actually quite fascinating.

I have mentioned this song in this Enya forum before, in relation to remixes (and I think in another thread about 90s deep cuts that I can't find) though it was originally Smaoitím, a B-side to Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) so 1988-89.
Smaointe is the longest Enya track (just over 6 minutes) and one of her most heartfelt songs ♡

Also this vocals only version (even without the Uilleann pipes, still over 5 mins of Enya's voice)

Though the video was 1991, this song is from Watermark, and so is this vocalisation version, As Baile (~and I leave my home) ♡

I used to not take much notice of this song, thinking it was mostly for hyping up the "Enya records 500 vocals" thing. However, Enya did actually count on this song, but there were even more after adjusting it for tuning and harmonies
The clarinet bit is nice too, just found out he was Roy Jowitt (1938-2012)
Though I'm not quite as attuned to guardian angels as En, I admire the idea. It's not religious but spiritual belief in them; some invisible force to rely on when you feel you have no-one.

And I love how this was mentioned in (what I think is) her last proper interview, from 2017:

Ironically the release of the track to the Japanese for a Panasonic TV ad led to Warner Music Japan announcing a new Enya album a year early
8D audio with subtitles:

It sounds rather majestic, especially the chorus/refrain bit and the poetry is lovely too.

I happened to inform Roma's son-in-law (who filmed the making of the later mvs) that Michael Praed (the Robin of Sherwood actor Enya's Clannad siblings wrote music for the series) is in the music video haha.

Also the vocals only has a rather different feel


The rhythm/riff Enya describes does makes the song feel complete though.
