CAN SOMEONE JUST TELL US THE FUN BITS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD?

It was a HEADFUCK late last night

In the cold light of day it would be like finding a congealed glob of spunk halfway up your curtains.

NONE OF THIS HELPS!

At the moment, from my outside point of view, it looks like OUR @Ag threw a hissy fit and his toys out of the pram. MAYBE someone would like to correct me, because I'd HATE to have it all WRONG :eyes:

Basically, the year chosen for the rewatch turned out to be very unpopular with the fans and so they had their pitchforks ready by about the tenth song. Two faction groups emerged, with the rebel alliance led by Penelope. Ag was very keen we follow the rules of the charter we drew up, which said no post-00 contests to be wasted on a drunken midnight rewatch. In his role as moderator, Buttertart was lynched but he managed to get into a control tower and tried to steer some innocent drunken bystanders to the safety of a state sanctioned thread, Melodifestivalen 2008, but it was too late really. So instead of one thread, we had two simultaneous rewatches going on.

I mean, I think the real solution is that we all just need to get out of the house but seeing as that’s not possible I do believe we should cosplay a court case with a jury made up of our non-Eurovision peers.

in fairness to Penelope, I'm laying the blame with whichever CLUELESS SLAG decided 2003 was a good choice in the first place. They pushed everyone right to the edge of the abyss.

There'd have a drunk rewatch WHATEVER.

What year was Sertab? I had my annual 15-minute Sertab LOOP of Every Way that I Can (video; Eurovision perf and random live perf) last night and it was delightful.

In fact I may post a thread about her in the Eurovision forum to main the PEACE. :disco:

So basically, PENNY was the CUNT then.

JUST SO I KNOW.

To be fair I hadn't realised the no 00's after midnight was a rule as the rewatch thread has got a bit MESSY for my tastes. I was fully against doing 016 as Evil Pen originally planned, but thought 04 seemed harmless enough.

I'm not too BOTHERED if any years get repeated. I enjoy an early night and a non-hungover as well as enjoying drunken insanity for one night so anything's FAIR GAME. Let's all just CHILL OUT. It's only a GAY CHATROOM after all.

And to seriously answer the question about me and the rewatches, well I loved the Madonna rewatch the other day, but I just can't keep up with the Eurovision ones. Too many! Ones starting at midnight when I have work the next day? Just not for me.

2003, we proper (not drunk) watched that the other night. An ok year.

you don't have to stay for the DRUNK rewatch afterwards! In fact, I encourage you NOT to :D

The OFFICIAL ones are at 8pm Wednesday and Saturday.

TOO SENSIBLE.

I do disagree here. When people make suggestions for years it might be because they hold some of their favourite songs and we need to just give whatever is suggested a good go - it is everybody’s pandemic after all, but particularly when it’s a midweek rewatch and we have a very limited pool to choose from. I feel like instead of just enjoying the contest yesterday it became about dissing it, in which case it might be best to just not watch if you’re not in the mood. That’s what led to mob panic really, not the contest itself.

Oh dear

I think not being entirely serious isn't working for me today

Oh I'm still going to watch, even if it's shit! It's for my EDUCATION.

Oh no I understand you were joking and I wasn’t having a go, I was just keen that the take-home from this isn’t that people refrain from suggesting years they really like!

Yeah, very much this. The main contest last night was shit but there was still plenty of enjoyment to be had mocking Wogan, the voting and Latvia, in that order. Instead everyone just started bickering about what to watch next when there was more than an hour still to go and ignoring my nomination for 'It's Wednesday and this is dumb'. I'm sure that my disillusionment will be gone by 8pm on Saturday but this is the first time that I've worried about the impact of the rewatch threads on my mental health rather than just enjoying them.

I think there's a good chance that the bickering would have happened even if we all thought it was the best year ever, but I do take your wider point.

100%

To outsiders it sounds nuts, but I think @Lucille put it best when she said it was making her feel anxious.

I tend to find all the bickering puts me off the drunk rewatch A TAD as the 30 minute breather between the two usually ends up with about 50 different threads being opened and doesn’t half TIRE YOU OUT trying to keep up instead of just nipping for a piss and topping up the wine. We just need to pencil the drunk rewatches in like we do with the main ones, perhaps have a POLL and hide the votes so there’s no CHEATING or ARGUING.
