Sky’s entertainment channels don’t give the tiniest shit about the Queen. Sky Atlantic have been showing repeats of The Sopranos, OG Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire all weekend. If it’s not cancelled in the US, which it won’t be, we’ll get the new episode as normal.

And for ages we're going to have to endure a message "this was filmed before she died" during various shows.
 
Some of the coverage has referred to valid criticisms of the crown. But it's been drowned out by a very presumptive narrative of mass national mourning.

As I've stated I love the theatrics of it, but I absolutely welcome critical analysis, which is absolutely valid for such an institution at this time of change. Equally I don't especially enjoy people just being cunts in the wake of a death. At least be funny or smart about it.

If you really can’t cope with ten days of BBC coverage of a death that’s been planned to the nth degree for years, just turn it off!

The narrative is pre planned. It's not news it's what they want us to hear. At least when Diana died there was the twist of the masses turning against the royals. Even Thatcher had the Ding Dong side story. There's nothing here aside from process.
 
I realise I was doing some of the moaning earlier but I have found the mute button useful to get rid of the inane ramblings.
 
I always thought lying in state meant an open coffin until this week. Husband wants to go to London. Quite disappointed that you just shuffle past the coffin. :D
 
And CAN I JUST SAY I have been on holiday to Ballater (Balmoral) and it was LOVELY. Kylie was there the same week. I didn’t see her or any of the royals. :(
 
But I agree, it's easy enough to turn away from all this if it isn't your thing.

Oh god I'd 100% go along if it were an open coffin and you'd get to see her pumped full of formaldehyde and all done up like Barbara Cartland by the royal embalmer. This is one case where our traditions are sadly lacking and not ridiculous enough
