Absolutely this. It’s what’s fallen off the agenda, or alternately has been buried, that isn’t being covered whilst all this takes focus.

I'm not sure if all are closing yet, but the one where I work on a Monday is - so my appointments are all cancelled as well whether I want to work or not. And that's why I had to stay an extra three hours yesterday rescheduling and represcribing people.

I've also heard of GP appointments being cancelled but everyone being told that they have to phone and rearrange the appointment themselves if they still want it, which really does strike me as a bit rich.
 
I'm sure they could have got an earlier slot for the funeral. They know the right people, pull a few strings and all that...
 
At my Mum’s, I just noticed the BBC have a programme called “The King in Northern Ireland” or something. For five hours. When I asked why, I was shouted down with “cause he’s in Northern Ireland”.

Ok…

Y'know, I actually don't know how I feel about the Andrew situation. His Mum is dead at the end of the day- should he be completely excluded from everything? I honestly don't know.

Maybe...but then having to grieve your dead Mother in front of millions is a ridiculous fucking sham ANYWAY, so...
 
I actually feel that Andrew should be allowed to grieve his dead mum without being heckled and abused constantly.

Seeing all the Queens children standing vigil at her coffin was awful, while streams of people walked past just staring at them.

I know it's protocol, but I can't imagine grieving my mum's death like that. And Charles hasn't had a moment to himself before being pushed to be King.

Also I read the Royals aren't allowed to cry in public, is that true?!

There was a private ceremony in the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and there will be one tonight in Buckingham Palace. He could still grieve and take part whilst having no part in the public side of things, bar the actual funeral where you could just shove him in a corner.

Which is more, for me, the issue of having all this public BOLLOCKS rather than anything else. That (awful red faced gammon) is actually horribly right- he's not been found guilty of any crime, no matter what we all think of him, he has a right to be there to publicly mourn his Mother along with the rest of his family, surely?

Whether you think he should be heckled or not is another matter entirely...

No one has a RIGHT to public life. He was stripped of his royal duties for a reason. He settled the court case for an insane amount of money for a reason. He has no right to be there whatsoever.

Was he stripped of them or did he walk away from them due to overwhelming public opinion? Which is very different...

I'm not saying I AGREE with him being off scot free, but do I really think it's such a disaster to let him walk behind a car with his brothers and sister?

I just checked and it is "With the Queen's approval and agreement, the Duke of York's military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to the Queen."

So I think it was essentially, resign or be fired.

Thus far, the plot is pretty thin. I assume they're building up to something but I can't see them getting a series.

He jumped about a millisecond before he was pushed. I think it would have gone down better with the public if he'd been forcibly stripped of all this titles. Allowing him to "return" them looked a bit mild.

Which, still, is a different thing. We're just speculating at this point.

TECHNICALLY, he's kind of the same footing as HARRY, no? And imagine the outcry if THEY were denied any appearances... :D

Look, let me make this clear- this is my default setting too- but at the end of the day, he's not been found guilty of any crime and he voluntarily gave up his status. Those are the cold, hard facts. Which is EXACTLY the same as Harry.
 
Center Parcs are kicking out their guests!

Surely if they were closing, as in giving their staff a day off, their existing guests could just stay in their rooms on a discount, get food from outside and expect no service. What a palaver.
