I know this is on ALL TERRESTRIAL CHANNELS apart from 5 but am I right in saying in this day and age people who don’t want to watch can freely switch over to Netflix/Amazon etc so the viewing figures will be MOSTLY people who actually wanted to watch? I’m assuming that even most elderly people are now quite TECH SAVVY.

There were hundreds of cable and satellite channels back when Diana died.
 
That isn’t necessarily true with FREEVIEW, is it? I am quite in the dark on that one?

FreeView launched in 2002. Either way, my parents don’t have cable or satellite TV even now, but do have access to all of my streaming service passwords.

Lest I be accused of being a boot licking royalist I just got up after a boozy super Sunday and had a wank, haven't seen any of the funeral we're off work for

True but with the Queen's context I'm not sure sending her to a hole in the ground is exactly victorious

So if the funeral was broadcast on every terrestrial channel then people would have had to endure the procession, unless they turned the tv off of course?
 
There may have been less choice back then for most people which artificially boosted terrestrial channels (the days of shows getting cancelled if they dropped to NINE MILLION, etc), but equally while BBC ratings are low, many shows make up figures that *almost* look like ratings of days gone by, after 28 days catch up. I mean not exactly but that's sort of right, is it @lolly ? For bigger dramas anyway. I imagine whatever the funeral loses out via choices, will be made up via that. To a point

I still can't fathom 40 million+. But it has been everywhere. Maybe 25 million BBC1, over 30 adding the rest. Hope Ar Di stays firm atop the funeral chart though

My mum, who was all upset about it and all very grateful for Liz and all that, ended up taking the dog for a walk for most of the funeral

IT'S A FLOP. CANCEL IT
