Sonja's surprise season 4 party where Simon (thinking he's Rick Owens?) enters in a hideous leather floor-length ROBE and is accused of cyber-bullying, whilst Jill confirms she will NOT EAT raw scallops is an underrated moment of NYC chaos.

GAGGED we have a whole new season of this mess within the next FEW DAYS!
 
I'm almost at the end of season 5, so doing pretty well right!

I've been revisiting season 4 this week as it's been AEONS since I watched, and it really is one of the most chaotic Housewives seasons of all time :D
Alex and Simon signing their own DEATH WARRANT with the rest of the cast as the season progresses, Jill just being INTOLERABLE throughout, Sonja somehow emerging as the SHOW LEAD for the season :D / :disco:

A glorious mess!

To me season 4 lost a lot of the charm of season 3 and I can understand why they replaced a lot of the cast. Hailing Kelly as the NORMAL one of season 4 was a choice. I'm much preferring season 5, but season 3 has been the best so far - I was very invested in Kelly v Bethenny

The Season 4 reunion is one of the darkest, most toxic pieces of television I have ever watched :D

Oh yes it's very toxic. The whole brunettes v blondes setup really created some uncomfortable tension. I love Alex and I'm glad when she sticks up for herself but she is just on full attack mode, she shouts almost the entire time. Couldn't be more different from the season 2 reunion where she barely says a word!
 
I'm deffo appreciating season 4 a lot more with some distance from it. It's not a classic season at all (Morocco trip ASIDE ofc), but watched in isolation as a chaotic mess comedy show it certainly has it's CHARMS!

I completely forgot that Sindy is barely even in several episodes too :D

Season 3 is of course LEGENDARY, and I probably should have my third watch of it soon :D Alex as the messenger of DOOM at Jill's Saks shopping event kills me EVERY TIME!

I will say this, any of the cast could've been axed after season 4 but Bravo absolutely made the right decision in keeping Ramona, Luann and Sonja over the others. I really don't think the show would've lasted this long without them.

There's always an undercurrent of Alex being a second-class citizen among the cast, like the other girls are doing her a favour by talking to her. So I saw this as the flipside - if you don't comply, we'll cast you aside.

Little did Kelly know that she would be cast aside too!

I know Dorinda loves her house more than anything, but it must get a bit BORING getting pissed out your mind every night by YOURSELF in a huge house in the middle of NOWHERE!

I mean, obviously I'd take it if the option was offered to me, but STILL!

Whilst I certainly don't STAN Alex, I am quite FOND of her in 2021.
Looking back she was so clearly just a slightly nervous WISP of a nerdy woman goaded onto reality TV by her absolute HORROR of a husband :D Her "finding my voice" narrative that just climaxes in Alex making a complete TIT of herself at various times during seasons 3 and 4 is quite :D

My fave Silex moment is when they rent an absolute decrepit SHAMBLES of a Hamptons holiday home in season 2, and the rest of the cast spend the entire Summer basically point-blank ignoring them even when filming :D

I imagine some of the unused footage of Alex & Simon from 1-4 is so cringe it probably HURTS to watch!

The fact that this wasn't even enough for them, and they then demoted Luann to 'friend of' after season 5 ended.

In hindsight though, I'm glad they did, as it resulted in Luann turning it up to a level that ensured she could NEVER be demoted again. And it meant we got the "never count out the Countess" tagline the following season :disco:
 
WHY is this being shown on a TUESDAY NIGHT? Is that a good time slot in the States?

New Housewives episodes are more of a Thurs/Fri night GLASS OF WINE thing for me, and I'm going to have to exist through 2/3 days of GOSSIPING HOUSEWIVES QUEENS online before I get to watch it :D
 
Am I going to spoil it for myself if I skip forward to the new season? I kind of feel I need to do it all sequentially

I would definitely do it in order. These women have so much history together.

And even with Leah who is only starting her second season, I feel she's probably best enjoyed from knowing her hurricane first season.
