Rebecca Ferguson releases shock 10/10 song with Nile Rodgers

Oh, this really is great!

That single cover is very 'I made this myself on MS Paint' though :(

this is such an ameraal thread title :D listening now

I don't think I will ever love her voice but it is less grating when there is a bit of tempo there.

That font though :D

Oh I like this! I wasn't really expecting anything new from her ever. It feels very 80s.

I still love Teach Me How To Be Loved and I Hope.

I still think her first album is surprisingly LOVELY - the flop later singles are pretty much all streets ahead of 'Nothing's Real But Love'.

She did get very boring very quickly after that though. This is a very welcome change of pace.

Oh I liked something else of hers recently. I never quite gave up on her!

This is pretty solid!

@VoR you surprise me with your Rebecca Ferguson love. I thought you’d find her a complete fraud and even more grating because of the scouse accent :D

I fall somewhere between you and @dUb I think. She has a LOVELY tone but I feel like most of the time she doesn’t know what to do with it - she relies on the fact that she has an “old voice” and sticks to the same tricks to hide her lack of technique

that said, she did have some decent songs at the start of her career. It just never really went anywhere

If someone had told me she was going to a retro disco inspired track I’d be like :zombie: but this is just magical - it clicks in all the right ways, her voice falls into the music like butter on toast. Just a wonderful surprise really

I’ll take a whole album thanks!

I'm not *that* enthused by her in general, but I liked her on X Factor and I do think she has a nice tone even if her voice isn't terribly strong. Like I said, I totally lost interest past the first album.

At least she generally reigns it in. It's the vocal SCREAMERS I have a hard time with in general.

I saw this on Spotify new music Friday earlier and added it to my playlist, will give it a listen later but encouraged by these reviews!

I didn't know she had a song coming up, with the Nile Rogers link surely this will go to R2 A list and she does a few PERFS.

I always mentally associate Rebecca Ferguson with @VoR too for some reason :D I'm not sure if it's just entirely because I imagine she lived VoR's X Factor narrative if he'd been born a woman
