HELLO MOOPY

I am looking, please, for record player recommendations.

I don't want anything that's going to cost the Earth and I would like it to be able to connect through Bluetooth so I can play the sound through the lovely Lady Alexa.
 
Basically you REALLY get what you pay for with record players. Cheap ones generally sound very much like that.

What is your "not the earth" budget, realistically?

I would probably be prepared to spend up to £125
 
I also want one. I almost buy one on Amazon last black friday, but it was sold out before I made up my mind :rolleyes: I don't want to pay much but want decent quality, I don't understand much about it so that's why I didn't decide to get one yet. I guess I can get a decent one for 40-50€?

I used to have this one through bluetooth which was good but not amazing:

Since then I have gone full on analogue and I have this one (with an AudioTechnica stylus), which is absolutely amazing:

The second one is a fortune :shock: I thought they were a lot cheaper, I guess they're not very good?

Had to edit the first one actually - the one I posted was the version with no Bluetooth.

I don't think £85 is that bad!

Oh I thought it was £200, I probably got the wrong one. I was thinking I need better speakers too, but it's just for my living room, I don't need something amazing.
 
To be honest, I'm needing a new one too - I have a Sherwood that was £230 in 2001 and it's been a warhorse but the varispeed control is getting a bit wonky.

I've had a few recommendations that Audio-Technica give good bang for the buck but I haven't explored the matter.
 
I've thought about getting one as well, if it has Bluetooth does that mean I could play it through the soundbar on my TV that also has Bluetooth? It would be nice to save money on speakers :eyes:
 
I want to see if Put Yourself In My Place has a double crackle at the start when it's played on vinyl.

In theory, yes.
I play mine through my Sonos system generally, and that connects up to the soundbar if I need it to (but I don't as I have two Sonos 5s in the lounge for full stereo).

£125 should get you a fairly decent system. Ion is a good reliable brand, though I have no personal experience.

Check out Which and What Hi-Fi, they'll have some articles with recommendations.
 
I bought a JAM one in HMV’s sale a couple of years back. All this Bluetooth chat sounds awful fancy. I’ll need to YouTube how to do it.

Audio Technica is a good make. I’ve heard mixed things about ION. I paid £250 for mine

it does MP3 Conversion as well as Bluetooth and has a pitch shifter. The latter I think is important as I’ve noticed a lot of turntables run fast. Which annoys the hell out of me.
