Reform UK (1 Viewer)

Reform were a distant fourth in East Wiltshire in the election, it seems mad that this doesn’t trigger a by election. The extremely wealthy and privileged town of Marlborough being Reform is just ludicrous :D

Defections are an abuse of the electoral system. You vote for the person AND the party - they're both on the ballot paper, the notion that you can change either without a by-election is ridiculous.

The majority of people vote on the party, and barely know anything about the person they are voting for.

Exactly, it makes more sense to keep the party and change the person but that would be abused beyond all reason.

Kemi: Tories jumping to Reform like rats fleeing a sinking ship is a good thing, actually.

One of the things that has caused concern is the strict policies I’m putting in on welfare. We need to live within our means. The Conservative party is the only party, for example, that wants to make sure that we have a two-child benefit cap.

I know Danny had written a paper about how that should be lifted, so there are policy disagreements.

If people are leaving because of policy disagreements, then that means that the message that I’m putting out there is clear.

Sowing the seeds now they’ve got a Christian nutjob in their ranks

Chancellor Rachel Reeves said the suggested savings "have no basis in reality" and the government were already looking at restricting migrants' welfare access.

No other issues with it though?

I don’t think cutting the rate of legal immigration is a bad thing, I’d rather that be their focus than attacking refugees.

Scrapping indefinite leave to remain creates a massive amount of admin when they have to be renewed every 5 years and also removes a lot of people from the financial system; indefinite leave to remain is often a requirement of a mortgage or a loan and if that will force people out of major financial systems. I think the second is a feature, rather than a fault.

I loved that. I'm trying to find the wider context, but as far as I know she's been dog-whistling about a crime which turned out to be committed by a white person.

Is there a lot of typical outrage from the right over the Manchester attack? I've not sensed much. I'm sure there's plenty happy to see violence against Jews, despite the awkward bedfellows that are Zionists and Fascists.

There was an anti-right march in the city centre again today. At least twice as big as last month. The headline on the leaflet I was given, was "Reform is a racist party". Preaching to the converted, but still GOOD.

I think we've had anti-immigration and counter protests here pretty much every weekend for at least a month. There's certainly another tomorrow.

Well I expect nothing less from Bristol.

We certainly have a notable anti-right contingent here, always nice to see them as a collective. There's a pro-Palestine protest every Sunday at the war memorial, but this is a full on march. I should get involved really, but I quite anxious about being seen, within the context of my role.

In a message sent after the Guardian published the video, Kemkaran told her fellow Reform councillors that a “thorough investigation” was being launched as she said she had passed on her suspicions about who was responsible for “this treachery” to Reform UK’s head office.

“To have people on the inside, who smile to our faces, sit next to us at meetings, share jokes, anecdotes, before stabbing us in the back is very sad indeed,” she said in the message.

“The people who did this are cowards. They are weak. They are foolish. They are incapable of displaying true courage themselves, so they look to harm those who are. They are obsessed with personal gain at the expense of group success. They cannot cope with disappointment and personal inadequacies so they seek to bring down others to their level.”

She added: “I want you to know … I passed my suspicions of who is responsible for this treachery to head office and a thorough investigation is already under way. The guilty parties will be expelled from the Reform party without delay. They will have no political future.”

I'm glad that's what she's taking from this whole thing.

Am the nicest, kindest man you could meet. Don't suffer fools gladly though.
Hating immigrants is fucking evil. Don't say you don't and make up some shit because just agreed to vote Reform because of immigration.

This is a forum of mostly gay men. Farage would end gay marriage, which for that and many other reasons makes him a FUCKING CUNT.

My wife is a an immigrant actually. Came here with an Arab family in 1985. I don't hate them but we are an overcrowded country. Do you agree with them just turning up by boat? We have a housing shortage. My friend is in a hotel as his landlord sold his flat and he can't get another as they all say no DWP claimants. He has cancer of the nose.. Let them do what my wife did and apply to come legally. We have friends who are from Poland and Romania, lovely people.

They're refugees escaping war and poverty. They can do what they want.

Oh and "we're overcrowded" is so racism coded, except with barely any coding.

The overcrowding:

He's not racist because of his foreign friends, despite claiming to have no friends. Make your mind up.

That makes no sense. And What does the housing shortage have to do with immigration?

@crazychris how would you feel if those immigrants were looking after you when you were sick? Did you know most healthcare workers in the UK are migrants? Would you refuse healthcare?
