Robbie Williams - Britpop

I gave the album a curiosity listen while out on a walk earlier. I find him sporadically enjoyable in general, but it really is a dire album. The Alexis Petridis review was bang on when he said the parts that actually sound like Britpop sound more like Oasis circa 2000 than at their peak.

Mostly though it just sounds like really bad pub rock.

My nearest Morrisons does too but it's mostly cheapo compilations and about 7 albums that have been in the charts in the last 3 or 4 months.

Pretty sure my local Tesco doesn't, but I think the ASDA at Livingston is the biggest in Scotland and they do - I was amazed that they also stocked CDRs! Imagine making playlists anywhere near as short as 80 minutes these days. My driving playlists alone are almost infinite.

I think a lot of supermarkets still do repackaged second hand CDs, but most seem to have ditched full price chart stuff entirely over the last few years.

I mean, at this point even HMV is about 60% funko pops, 20% Vinyl, 15% DVDs and 5% CDs in my experience.

I bought my nephew a capybara plushie in HMV last month. My 18 yr old self would have been appalled at a trip to HMV resulting in that and only that.

Moopy fam I'll pop into Morrisons later this weekend for some live reporting.

That’s the same as my local Asda - loads of Now compilations and latest releases from a small selection of big hitters (Swift, Sheeran etc).

Rather predictably, Radio 2 have made this their album of the week for next week.

I’m off to the Colliers Wood Sainsbury’s superstore later so shall check if there are any CDs. I feel maybe there is a very small section in the home ware area? But I can’t remember the last time I saw them otherwise.

Reporting live from Morrisons where the CD stock includes Taylor Swift and Olly Murs

I'll take the SUCH A GOOD FEELING 88-95 CD please. It's like the STORY OF MY LIFE

Honestly apart from K.W.S. and possibly FREAK POWER it's just WALL TO WALL MOMENTS

God I'm old and sad

I can sympathise as, having had a couple of glasses of wine on Saturday, Mr Sheena and I ordered a replacement vinyl copy of Deep Heat 90, having both had it at the time and feeling similar nostalgia :disco:

THAT’S THE ONE!!!

I was telling my cousin about that album and COULD I remember the name of it, could I BUFFALO!

the verses of Morrissey are very Pet Shop Boys. and quite good! but that chorus... no.

omg a song played after called You that was just awful. what happened to his melodic instincts? I'm playing She's Madonna as a cleanse.

What is a Madison Beer? Is it an AI?

Robbie has so far sold 15k but only 240 "units" from streaming, so Morrisons are very much the only reason he'll shart in the top 40 at all.

Why the 'rush', though? It was originally meant to be released a few months ago and postponed at a few weeks notice. I'd have assumed it was ready to go, hence them deciding to then bring the release forward seemingly out of nowhere. Why do that if you're not ready to go and clearly so desperate for a #1?

I listened to the new single a couple of times and its not crap but meh, but it does sound very Oasis rip off. But then I remembered the albam is called Britpop and thats probably the point.
