Rosalia - Lux

Just came here to say that Basement Jaxx dropped Berghain in their main floor set at Drumsheds last night and I completely lost my shit. Never did I expect that to happen and it was epic! Shaking and crying does not even begin to describe it.

I bought this but my head was such a mess with the flu that it was too much - it's a maximal record and I was not mentally equipped to deal with it. Now that I am only about 17% lurgy, I will go back to it.

I did have some in the basket with ‘ar Bev (rip) but they were literally on the BACK ROW so didn’t bother. There’s always the resale :eyes:

Have both O2 dates sold out already 😲 I've never seen her live before but cannot miss her this time around as Lux is just perfect. I wonder how the set will play out... kinda feel like Lux should be performed in it's entirety with a greatest hits type second act.

Late to this - I did pre-save it out of curiosity prior to release but largely forgot about it, or never felt in the right head space to commit to it, after hearing Berghain.

Fuck me, I genuinely don't recall being so utterly enthralled by an album from start to finish.

Same. I really liked Berghain but I kept putting off listening to the rest. Anyway, this album really hit me like a brick over the past few weeks. Reliquia and Divinize are just incredible.

I like Berghain but would like a version where I don't get SHOUTED AT please :(

I have no idea if it's lyrically appropriate or not, but I think I want Magnolias as the final song at my funeral. With Dusty's Goin' Back as the first, just to bookend it with suitable melodrama.

It’s still high- both on my playlist and in terms of my level of FUCK ME each time I hear it. The extra songs on the vinyl just make the whole thing an even bigger treat.

I've only listened to it on headphones, which work wonderfully on the more intimate moments. But equally, I imagine the are some moments which absolutely need to (and benefit from being allowed to) fill a room.

If I’m feeling particularly delicate it can literally cut through me.

Is it ridiculous to consider spending £14 to go sit in the dark and listen to this?

I’ve panic bought tickets from Viagogo for £200 to see her at the O2, so above face value, but in the golden circle. I figured they might become scarce if the Brits performance goes well.

NO IDEA IF I’M GOING TO GET SCAMMED OR NOT :disco:

I found the album a bit overwhelming but that performance was glorious on another level.

That was all I could write last night, I was a bit overwhelmed honestly. I've never really had a live experience like that. The opening act follows more or less the order of the album and it blew me away. Her voice is absoloutely outstanding and the live, well, basically orchestra she had, was just a wall of sound that, more than once, brought me to tears, the old poof that I am, though a friend who went separately said he cried all the way through. Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti ended the first act and was just astonishingly beautiful (my highlight) and from that into Berghain, well... Seeing someone who is actually so involved in her own music that she's basically crying as she sings (on more than one occasion) was incredibly moving. As was her realising (and talking about) how she was playing at a sold out O2. The staging was really good and though perhaps less flashy than most arena shows, it entirely worked for what it was. The only (minor) gripe was the insistence on putting horribly Google translated English translations of the lyrics above the stage. Like genuinely appalling, and I don't even speak Spanish. I guess it's a vocational hazard for me.

The other thing to mention is that she's also REALLY fucking funny. The "confessions" box section, where she gets a "celebrity" (though I have no idea who ours was...Lola someone?) to confess something to her was great and her trying to get someone to teach her the English accent who turned out to be from Rome was marvellous. I didn't expect the stage banter to be good, but it was. The section where she randomly threw in Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, performed as a painting had everyone beaming too.

I got Viagogo tickets late on in the gold circle and was glad I was up that close, it really added something to it to see her face go through it all. It's also the first time in a long time I've been to a gig and immediately gone and looked to see if I could work out tickets for the following day, but sadly I can't make it work.

Anyway 10/10. Plenty of notes. Genuinely a generational talent.
