In regards to Crystal as fan fave, she definitely seems to get the most Instagram/Reddit attention for her runway looks which is why I popped her as a fan fave. That she had (literally one or two) genuinely funny lines in the show helps also I think.

She doesn't get the most instagram attention at all - she's performing relatively badly in terms of number of followers and week on week in at the low end in terms of new followers she's picking up.

she kinda reminds me of Roxxxy Andrews a bit. She obviously more talented. But she just has this aura of entitlement. She’s probably had a career of being the number 1 queen in Liverpool her whole life. I think next week the true cunt in her comes out going by the sneak peak. Going up against Divina is not a good move. You would think being in the bottom 2 would give her time for reflection but it seems not. I hope she gets taken down another peg or two.

She probably didn’t think that the show would be as well received as this. The US show is still very niche in the UK, but the UK one seems to have struck a cord with many people here who have never seen the show before.
But there’s the UK Drag Race theatre show tour in November and December, which is only 6 shows in Newcastle, London, Birmingham, Brighton, Glasgow and Manchester. They could have easily done more. And no Liverpool!

That tour was announced before the first episode aired, wasn't it? They could easily double that number of dates and cities. We had Heels Of Hell here a couple of weeks ago, and even though that had Alaska, Adore and Sharon Needles, I'm sure the UK lot would get a bigger audience.

The one thing about this show is that while this UK series has become MUST SEE, it's really not invigorated my interest in either of the US series. In fact I think it's made me care LESS about them. Now we have our own show and our own queens to support. I'll obviously still watch the US series but I think the magic has dissipated a bit.

not meant as an attack in any way, least of all a personal one, and, sure, i get why it happens but it never fails to bug me how people are more invested in something if it's from their neck of the woods. it's like the uk eurovision entries all over.

i don't care for this series much. and not because it's a uk edition, i think i'm just bored of the whole thing.
still watching it, mind you, but i wouldn't be surprised if it's the last one i do.

Well I officially declare Break Up (Bye Bye) an earworm; I've only heard it once since watching the show and yet I couldn't get to sleep for an hour last night with it running round my head.

yeah, like i said i understand it but it still feels like another aspect of nationality based tribalism which turns me off. and one of the things about the lgbtq spirit i value most is that it often transcends race and nationality.

I think that's a bit of a reach, to be honest. Well, for how I believe I perceive it, anyway.

I just think after fifteen or whatever series it is of US queens and a very much US centric show, it's only natural that British people will very much be drawn to a series full of UK queens with their different cultural experiences, humour, points of reference etc.

Oh come on @ameraal - it's not a patriotic thing AT ALL. It's the humour, the references, and the realness that I like about the UK show. The US one I still adore, but there's plenty of things that have gone over my head with that, whereas with the UK one I just GET them more. And it kinda feels like a bit of a breath of fresh air after so many similar seasons of the US show.

It's very difficult to be anything other than subjective, isn't it?

I think most people agree (from what I've seen on social media anyway, from people from the UK, US and elsewhere) that is is quite DIFFERENT in tone to the US one, and some people are going to like that, others not.

I suppose it's hard to explain, I just feel more affinity with the Brits, especially with the things Divina was discussing this week - I went through a very similar situation when I was at school and the teachers did nothing. I also find British humour funnier than American.

Pretty much all my friends who are Drag Race fans like the show, some like me love it more than the US one, others it's the opposite. I think nationality has got nothing to do with it.

I think he means regular viewers, as eurofan you're in another league. At least here, lots of non eurofans think year after year when watching the show we have the best song and we deserve to win, no matter how shit our entry is (usually a lot).

And about UK DR, the fact that I knew every single one in the Snatch Game (ok, Julia Childs only because of a previous Snatch Game, but still) makes the difference. Probably because I've been watching a lot of UK tv for years, but as a non UK person I can tell the difference with the US series, and I'm loving it.

i don't think so, no. i like things that are objectively shit and vice versa.

anyway, i'm glad people are enjoying it and i hope it's not just down to it being more familiar. it's a pretty uneventful season so far, though i do like the queens.

apropos, the main difference i see in terms of the queens, looks aside, is that they seem more stilted in the workroom banter (i'm generalising here but i guess the "american demeanour" is more suited to reality tv) and they're harsher (which i enjoy).
