RPDR UK S1 E7 (spoilers)

And sorry to be anti-brexit again, it’s been a lovely season with a nice cast, but it’s going to be nice going back to the American show and to seeing real stars.

It’s those terrible accents, make them sound like peasants (to my foreign ears). :)

It wasn’t the best episode, the puppets were terribly unfunny and the runways were rough. They can do some humor but the looks and performances are so ropy.

Davina’s laugh is the most irritating thing ever. Also “much better” has reached cucu levels of overexposure.

Are they bothering with Miss Congeniality for this season?

I'd say it's between Blu and Cheryl. I'd prefer the former, but they both seem like lovely people.

She wasn't VILE though, was she? Her shade all seemed to be cheeky and in the right spirit - the rest of the cast clearly adored her.

True, but then I think they were ALL a close cast, there wasn't really anyone who was an outcast - Crystal maybe a little. We had a few arguments but really, it was nothing major.

Blu's shadiness was definitely only seen as good natured, and in no way would rule her out of any Miss Congeniality. I'd agree it's probably between her and Cheryl.

Well I guess I was holding out for a double save, which would’ve been reasonable unless we are checking scorecards.

the family resemblance thing is such a device, I mean the makeover episode was good this time, but Cheryl really was fucked over I think. Best choreo, they looked great (not sure about their real life resemblance though), I mean do they need identical clothes too?

As said, after Cheryl getting a Cheryl lipsync, you can’t complain about song choice bias shafting her, and I thought her lip sync was really good! Could’ve squatted less.. a double save with an AS2 mercy killing near the end of the final would’ve been best for me *tongue pop*

it’s funny the poor man’s Alyssa narrative has been left on Chez, but Baga really IS doing the “it’s ok because it’s Alyssa” storyline. The mum talk was unfortunate but as much as the qualified therapists here can speculate, it was just a bit of a flub.

Guess it should be down to Divina and Viv, even though everyone has 3 badges now. Depends if Divina’s personality can sell more than Viv’s scaldrina runway. Since it’s a musical finale, I wouldn’t want to call it

I think some people lied when they ticked the 'are you a qualified psychologist?' box when they joined Moopy?

The Baga stuff really was none of our business.

As far as the UK girls being STARS, I'd say half the girls have C in spades. Admittedly varying degrees of U N T, but all of the top five for me are worthy future All Stars.

My shady point was that Americans sound more star like (minus all the country ones) because it’s what we’re used to hear on tv/cinema.

Poor Cheryl was fucked either way indeed. Her performance in the challenge was pretty good and I'm not sure Baga walked the lipsync either. But it would've been completely wrong for her to make the top 3 over Baga. As said before the episode aired, this was the most expected outcome.

Baga's interaction with the judges and her mum was so uncomfortable to watch. She couldn't have handled the situation any worse. Which raise the question of fairness when planning which family member/friend to invite, I mean in Baga's case it was a major hindrance.

Does anyone think Baga would have managed much better with a 'less of a certain age' sister, though? Personally I doubt it. The main problem was Baga's skill.

Oh I didn't mean the age of who she was making over but the kind of relationship she was with them. In this case it was awkward from start to finish.

I really thought the mother story line would be the Vivienne after they mentioned some people in the family being not ok with her being a drag queen.

I went RIGHT OFF BAGA in that episode. His poor mum, there are obviously underlying tensions there but don't get her on if you are going to be like that!

Anyway, the lip synch song choice was completely orchestrated for Baga to stay, but it was for Cheryl to stay the week before. It's reality TV with a producers plot at the end of the day. I have not seen any of the American version to know how orchestrated it all is though..

Even though Cheryl was my personal fave, I think its fitting that this is the final 3.

To be fair to Baga I don't think she was expecting her mum to come on to the show! She did dig a hole with her comments but I don't think there was any malice in it, if she's anything like me, nerves make you blabber on like a freight train rather than going quiet. She was a bit out of line but it wasn't anything THAT serious. And yes, who are we to know or judge their relationship. Anyway she has no chance of winning, but she's been the most consistently entertaining throughout the series for me, if we remove the runways from the equation, but I think she's a certainty for All Stars at some point. Hopefully in a few years when she has more money to get better costumes. Though the Americans seem to dislike her a lot, even before this week. I guess she's the most far removed from a typical US queen as you can get! I still think she's the one who is going to book the most in the UK after this.

Its funny to think that its perfectly plausible that BAGA could be heading into the JUNGLE this time next year etc :D

considering that Baga looked older than her mother, I think what we saw was all she had.

I was under the impression the Americans (why are they suddenly the TASTE MAKERS) were lapping up Baga because she’s the most British in their eyes.

But I do bow to your superior knowledge on all things Drag Race, British culture and anthropology in general so CARRY ON!
