I don't know what it is with this season, it started so promisingly and it's still really strong technically but something about it has kind of SAGGED.

I think Black Peppa dropping off a cliff after week 1 has ruined the planned narrative. She was obviously pinpointed as a favourite, but despite flopping continuously since the judges have kind of doubled down on this, despite the two lip syncs (at which she is admittedly stellar). She should have gone by now although I can't be mad because she still oozes more star quality than Jonbers and Pixie. Whatever week they did the design challenge though, Peppa's outfit was one of the most hilariously awful I've ever seen - and when the judges didn't rip her to shreds, in fact were almost KIND about it, you knew she was being primed as a finalist.

And Jonbers outlasting so many better queens is as predictable as it is grating. She doesn't even have the iconic Sister Sister story arc of being entirely forgotten and accidentally reaching the final stages. At least Sister had the decency to be crap at everything. Jonbers is just so average.

Jonbers, Pixie and Peppa replaced by Dakota, Le Fil and Baby would feel like a more correct top 5 at this point. Even Sminty felt like a premature loss
 
On the plus side...Cheddar and Danny are a fine top 2. Either would be deserved as they are (mostly) killing it which is holding everything up. I'm relieved for Cheddar who initially seemed like she might be a shock flop. Her outfits are jaw droppingly good. Both very likable too.

Of course, Peppa will get to the final and if it's lip sync based I dread to think. Especially as (I'm guessing?) Danny and Cheddar were more well known previously so need the win less? I really hope they don't go down this road and save Peppa for an All Stars...
 
I don't think Peppa IS that great a lip syncer, personally. It's like she has all the stunts and moves, but it's all very chaotic and poorly focused, and it looks like no attention is particularly paid to the music or mood of the song. Unless she's against a really poor lip syncer, I don't think she'll be that hard to beat. Someone less capable technically, but who can sell a performance and tell a story will see her off.
 
Stop was a terrible lip sync choice. I Want You Back (soundtrack version with the talkie bit) could have been iconic.

Yes as I was writing that I did think actually, is she that good, but that's the narrative it seems and she's quite capable if nothing else. Looking back you're right, she's probably not TOP top tier, it might just look that way with some of the ropier lip syncs we've had.

Hopefully Cheddar or Danny will see her off if it's the usual lipsync showdown, though I wouldn't rule out a Peppa revival these last few episodes. TOO LATE for me so hopefully not
