RuPaul's Drag Race (1 Viewer)

that looks good tbqf (tm).

i'm slowly making my way through the untuckeds as i haven't really seen more than a couple and i'm at season 5. alyssa truly is one of the dimmest queens ever *.*
 
I know I'm hideously late to the party but for a while I actually thought this show was about actual drag racing, y'know with cars? It wasn't until I fully realised who RuPaul was that it made more sense.

Anyway, I spotted it on Netflix and decided to see what the fuss was about. I watched the full first first season within the space of 12 hours.

BeBe was incredible and my favourite right from that Destiny's Child task where she was pulling the best faces. Her channeling of Grace Jones, Donna Summer and Diana Ross throughout the series was amazing. I loved it when she had to lip-sync for her life against Ongina and had a literal breakdown on stage.

Tammie Brown should've stayed in longer for pure comedy value, she was giving me massive Lauren Harries vibes. Her facial expressions with that weird lipstick and the eyebrows... absolutely hilarious. Then in the follow-up episode when they all came back after the final and she made RuPaul lose his shit and told him to mind his language :D

The episode where Michelle Williams was guest judge and and told :rustie: she looked like man then wept when :rustie: lip-synced to We Break The Dawn was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen!

Nina Flowers was the most likeable contestant overall and definitely deserved runner-up, though I couldn't help notice how much she looked like one of the women from Devious Maids during the chat show task.

Shannel was a complete cunt who never knew what the STFU, especially that hideous monologue when they were filming the adverts. Rebecca Glasscock AKA Jodie Marsh was the most basic bitch of them all, how she made the final three I'll never know.

Now I have the Cover Girl song in my head forever and will be pressing on with the second season ASAP.

I'll never get over Rebecca turning up in the first episode wearing jeans.

I still remain most intrigued/entertained by s1 and it's the season I re-watch the most. I'm frequently distracted wondering what would have happened if they had played Snatch Game.

The show is too self aware to ever replicate it but the reunion show that year was something else. Ru ranting at Tammie Brown and Tammie shouting "I don't see you out there walking children in nature!" was just :disco:
 
I don't think I've ever watched the reunion shows from season 2 and 3 :o I like the confrontations they had with the judges which we lost in the subsequent reunion shows.
 
I was re-watching AllStars last night - Tammie Brown definitely has an aggressive quality behind all the crazy nonsequiturs.

One of my favourite confrontations was definitely when Tatianna called out Tyra on the runway during (I think) the wedding dress task.

Well I've just finished season two, what a HOT MESS :D

Shangela is one of the worst drag names I've ever heard.

Nicole Paige Brooks was far too butch and unconvincing.

Mystique doing the splits every 5 minutes was quite entertaining but her lip-sync against Raven was the worst yet.

Sonique was pure filler, apart from the transgender breakdown in the reunion show.

Morgan looked like a burns victim on the very first day, the make-up was off. I loved when she was channeling Xtina in the stage show challenge.

Poor Sahara, it felt like she was just clinging on every week but I liked how she modeled herself on Alexandra Burke.

Jessica Wild is the SPIT of a girl I used to work with who funnily enough we used to refer to as a drag queen behind her back :D

Pandora Boxx, ewww hideous but quite funny especially in the Snatch Game. Speaking of which, the Snatch Game was brilliant! Jessica doing RuPaul was horrible, I loved Sahara doing Whitney but the highlight was Morgan fuming at Tatianna's brilliant Britney impression.

Tatianna got on my tits a lot with the whole "I'm naturally beautiful anyway..." no you're not! The Britney impression aside she was useless and nasty.

Jujubee was the most likeable contestant, I grew to like Raven too despite thinking she was too butch near the beginning. Reminded me of Nina Flowers a bit.

Tyra was my initial favourite and just kept her A game all the way through, despite being a cunt and Beyoncé wannabe. That wedding dress task :D Bitch knew how to grab the limelight but that reaction to the win was just too far. Her and Jujubee should've been born women - it seems to come more naturally for black and Asian guys?

Jealous Of My Boogie is one of the worst songs, the lyrics are diabolical! I hope it disappears in the next season.

I can't stand Santino, what a creep.

Did they ever actually announce this? I remember at the time, they said it was heart failure which I think we'd assume is a conservative way of describing an overdose. Sahara had mentioned on the show that she had a history with drugs which would obviously make it more likely but I don't think they ever confirmed it.

Interesting! Everyone loved Pandora when that season first came out but I think a lot of us jumped ship when she showed her true colours on Allstars. You have to be a real cuntbag to make someone feel sorry for Mimi Imfurst.

For free (I can't access the link at work)?

I intend on watching it online this year anyway, last year I bought it from iTunes and they were very slow in uploading the episodes (the finale took two days).

I also turned my friend into a fan when he visited the other week.

The new Untucked trailer shows them in a completely different setting to the Illusions Lounge or whatever that was called. Also it's very backstage-y as in you can see the cameramen and the girls being called to go on stage. It looks like it'll be a bit different.
