S13 E14: Gettin' Lucky!

So I guess no one (Kandy) is getting eliminated this week? Reunion next week and then back to lip sync duels in the final the week after.
 
They made it look like Rosé would be out (Ru doesn’t seem to like her as much as the others) but we’ve been having a top 4 finale since S9 (with the exception of S12 where Sherry was out).
 
It was an alright episode, but it always feels a bit like filler when you know all of them are going through to the finale anyway.

It's felt like a two horse race between Symone and Gottmik since Snatch Game. I like Kandy and loved her runway this week, but unless she pulls out something amazing at the finale then I don't think she stands a chance. And I'm at a loss as to why Rosé is the social media favourite, but each to their own. She's very talented but oh so serious.
 
That was such a boring, futile episode, obvious they were all going through for starters and that lip sync was shite. It never works with more than two, stop trying to make it happen. Did make me think that Gottmik was the weakest of the four, though...and it felt like Rosé was in third place too.
 
Boring episode. So much talk, the producers really lost the fun part of the show and now it’s filled with this weird faux sincerity.

In terms of the runway Gotmik and Symone were great. Kandy was good and Rosé was terrible, the dress was unflattering and the gloves clashed.

Also what a weird edit of I Learned From the Best, it cut off whenever it should have gone on.
 
Yeah, I was so happy for finally getting such a great lip sync song but they really manged to ruin it. Also wasn’t a fan of the solo lipsyncs.

As for the runway, I only liked Symone’s outfit, and even hers wasn’t all that. Naomi had a much nicer version of it on the AS4 finale.
 
Now I'd love it if this remix was a smash up of En Vogue singing the same song that they called Too Gone Too Long or later called No Fool No More.

This is like pretending to gag when you can't be bothered getting a taxi home or back to the club.
 
I know there's a pattern to the format, but oh boy....this episode was basically a 50 minute circle jerk. Watching people gushing over each other and stroking each other's ego for an entire episode is just NOT fun. At some point, it starts to resemble self-worship.

Anyways, Symone clearly the best. Although, Gottmik was adorable this episode too. I love that they're so happy.

Rose is still super frumpy to me.
 
I am so sick of them attacking Rosé for being GOOD. Like it's their read of her every week. Even Jamal started on the stupid storyline/bandwagon this week with 'don't do the steps too well'. I thought she was by far the best in the song personally (which... no one else has mentioned, but I really enjoyed - I have a strong feeling I might be a minority on that!)

How long could they drag out a story of noone going home?!? Again, 45 minutes would have been enough. I don't understand why they don't edit some of these episodes down when there's literally nothing to show. Or just get rid of this episode full stop.

Personally, I liked Gottmik's look the most this week. I thought Rosé's was a mess (that's what they should have criticised her for - not her perfectionism).

They can if they tell them before the season begins... Episodes in America must be fucking LONG with ad breaks? Are they 90 mins? It's bad enough running at an hour on Netflix.
 
It was a filler episode and the sentimental mush is so outdated for the format of reality tv let alone lgbtqi folk on tv, which this show ought to do better on (Ru going in and out of tears like a window wiper going left to right didn't wash with me).
 
Gottmik is clearly the runway queen of the season, but she's still some way beneath Naomi, Aquaria and Violet in my opinion. I WANNA say Raja too, but I see so little of her runway these days.

I quite liked this episode, really enjoyed the main challenge, runway less so.

I think Rosé is great, really great, but I also don’t really care. That pretty much sums up this season though, through no fault of the queens, it’s just been on for 72 years... and in the time of Corona and lockdown, where there is no where to go and nothing to do, that’s a really big criticism.
 
I think they're calling Rosé professional and polished as a compliment, because the alternative would be to call her cold and less charismatic than the others. The only part of this episode where they used it as a negative was in the rehearsal when they wanted the dance steps to be less musical theatre. Which is fair.

Omg at Rosé's childhood picture bit :D I know that whole segment is dreadful and tired now, but the clinical delivery! This is not a criticism or otherwise, it's just funny how unmoved she seemed by the whole idea and instead of the usual emotional outbursts she presented her game-on Miss World winner's speech

But on the flip side....I just ♥️ Symone so much. That was one of the rare moments in that childhood pic part that felt TRULY genuine, and not awkward or regurgitated.

The episode was a bit nothing otherwise, I always find this point boring, and clearly it was the stage where they decide critiques are out the window, because Kandy still looked like crap to me and Rosé, as she does 90% of the time, looked horrific.

Still a good series, not sure what you're all complaining at! I like how even now it doesn't feel clear cut who will win out of Symone or Gottmik. I'd guess the latter but who knows. Obviously I'd prefer Symone.

100%. Apart from the monster one, they've all been ill-fitting and very basic, usually ugly.

But without doubt she's been consistent in the challenges. I can't see how anyone can argue that Symone (most of the time!) and Gottmik haven't outperformed her though, and that's with their runways usually obliterating anything she's got.

I really quite like Rosé and the professional approach to things, but she's not a winner, and I'd be worried for her that an All Stars run would give her a villain edit.
 
All things considered, my money’s on Mik for the crown. She was easily the worst in that lipsync though. Not that it means much here, just thinking that they’ll probably need some good editing for the grand final.
 
I was convinced Kandy was going so it wasn't predictable for me. And to be fair she did redeem a bit this week, still WAY behind the others, but I get why Ru wanted a final final four.

I thought it was a very hugs and positive vibes type of episode, but it kinda worked, and I thought the perf was good. I wouldn't want a big love in every episode, but it felt OK here, they were all genuinely thrilled at their journey and I was happy for them.

Still not obvious who's gonna win though. I'd be least shocked at Symone, but then again it does feel like we've had similar winners before. Gottmik would be new ground. Rose could still do it just because Ru knows she can rely on her to carry the crown well as an ambassador and a performer.

But yeah, Symone. That DRESS tonight :o

It's a back-handed compliment AT BEST. Because it's always accompanied by straight faces and a lack of excitement. Whereas Gottmik gets Ru CRYING with laughter at mediocre banter. I don't hate Gottmik, but it's weird how much they seem to laugh at things she says that are just... OK.
