What a way to waste Megan for an abbreviated runway.

I didn’t care for any of the songs but the metal one had the most potential.

I thought both Jax and Anitra did ok in their performance but Ajax’s Oompa Loompa runway was so offensively bad.

It’s hard for much to stick when it zooms by so quickly.
 
That was a boring episode. Aura winning was a low point. Sasha is really the only acceptable winner, it seems.
 
Yes, at this point Sasha is the only one worthy of the title out of this sad bunch.
 
Someone said we couldn’t judge Robin from the few seconds of airtime she’s had. Well now we can, BORING.

It was so obvious how they made it look like it was Robin’s time to go. I don’t think her perfomance was bad or particularily worse than the rest?

I can’t even get fully behind Shasha. We’re constantly told how perfect she is but I’ve yet to see anything extraordinary. (That could be because there are so many queens, she’s barely had any camera time up until this episode)
 
That runway zoomed so fast it was barely there! Was Marcia’s outfit even a tie-dye??!

I quite enjoyed the challenge. The country and metal perfs were pretty good, only the hiphop one fell flat. Robin clearly sent herself home when her answer to Ru's 'What's holding you back?' (aka 'give me your sob story and let me drink the sweet milk of your tears!') was essentially 'I'm just a boring person!'

I like that Bangles song a lot but it's weird how the first MTV season is so far using such VH1 music. :D
 
WELL - yeah it was alright. I always think US Drag Race is always the most essential but this season is testing that theory - not that it's bad, but it just sort of feels like one of the bigger regional ones in terms of quality.

Not sure what some of them are there for, but at least Robin is gone. Not a priority but yeah, what was the point? I can't believe she got a note saying she was playing it safe, and responded by basically saying "OK maybe but I'm good being safe thanks". Nice lipsync but yeah, definitely the Pointless answer if there is a S15 round.

What I had felt about Mistress and Luxx was amplified about 10x by Metalgate. They're just so smug and shit, the poison toad always looking down her nose - if you are being a cunt because you are friends with someone, and being a cunt to people you don't like, what are you? Every time I hear Luxx speak, one of my Horcruxes dies too. And of course we are stuck with them until the end, at this rate. Untucked made it even worse, OK Malaysia needs to take a breath (especially her pivoting mid-argument to direct everything to Marcia3 despite her immediately apologising). But Luxx's reaction felt very undeserved - of course they were both deliberately being cunts, so why get angry when someone accuses you of it?

Aura winning, OK girl :eyes: I had hoped that when she had story that was a sign of the end - I raised an eyebrow when she said "finally something I can do" when it's week 6 and they've tested comedy, designing and acting already (what ARE you good at?) and then seemed to flub the rehearsal. I guess there was just some reason not to give it to Sasha this week? IDK

Oh and WHAT did I say a few weeks ago about someone inevitably commenting on how few queens there are and "At this stage of the competition..." - bitch there were TWELVE QUEENS - that's more than a lot of other seasons HAVE TOTAL!
 
I didn't think there were any especially bad queens, and the editing to justify Robin being in the bottom was FAR from subtle. Having said that, she was in a shot out of drag at the start and I genuinely couldn't remember who they were.

Sasha obviously destroyed the competition, should have won.

No other comments because the episode is already over before anything can make an impact
 
Watching Watcha Packin (for my sins) - So Robin likes Raven so wanted to get a bird name, then picked one of the most boring birds.

Am I even watching the same show that they think is going out because I'm just about to watch the runways and thought the hip hop one was the best. We got wetting the bed from almost all the metal troupe and they would have been hung out to dry without Sasha. The hip hop group had the much better take on ageing that wasn't just the grimly inevitable go-to's. The cut-to's of Michelle, Ru and Ross were infuriatingly transparent. This show has almost no respect for their audience anymore.
 
Finally resumed and finished. Worst runway soundbites ever. Just let them walk twice and have 1 where they just say actual comments. If I hear "so stuuuupid" complete with the skinned-alive scream-laugh one more time..

I thought it was a bit weird that the hip hop team got pointed reactions when they were doing splits, I guess because it didn’t seem … realistic? (Which is nonsense) but then it was never mentioned

It did annoyed me that the we got barely any sight of the runway outfits this week in the first place and that some of the queens had literally half of their runway time taken up by shots of the panel hooting and hollering. Given that the amount of money and time that go into the runways, it feels quite disrespectful and unfair.

Yeah, I thought we were going to get a comment on that but we never did. Feels like something else that might have gotten lost in the insane editing going on this season. I was watching a YouTube video talking about the issues with the 40 minute runtime, and they pointed out a similar issue with the way Sasha was edited to be struggling during the filming of the “afterlife” challenge, and then Michelle commented during judging something along the lines of “you were a joy to direct - you took every note I gave” … which is something the audience simply never saw.

I am enjoying the shorter eps in some respects because they feel more manageable but I imagine we’ll be back to an hour again next season following the backlash (i’d prefer 50 mins as a happy medium). As others have pointed out, Drag Race is MTV’s newest acquisition and with it has immediately become the highest profile and most popular show on their network. To take your shiny new award-winning prize and then immediately cut back on its runtime in order to use it as a springboard for some other TUT is quite baffling.

Btw watching the Pit Stop (still not convinced Bianca is comfortable blanding her typical humour to this light entertainment chat) and it suddenly struck me - didn’t Mistress’ runway look like Lawrence Chaney’s one with that big crystal on the side?
 
By then we should be down to 8 queens and probably need the shorter episodes.

I guess there’s no pleasing me.
