this is definitely my favourite cover variant/the one I'd want to own, although I find the overall art direction for the whole shoot a bit baffling. none of these shots look at all how Manchild and her music sound.

it is also a bit weird how they've kept the second single for album release day and are reliant on the hype from Manchild (minimal) and whatever goodwill she has built up...

I’m guessing they were planning on Manchild to be more of an Espresso based on its debut but yeah I expected another pre album release single given that the hype is somewhat muted. I still think the album will do big business its first week but hopefully the second single has more staying power (and is better) than Manchild.

Not sure how reliable these insiders are but apparently the album is more 80s pop influenced than Manchild would suggest. There is only one other country pop outlier apparently.
 
I’m surprised that they pushed ahead so quickly with this album but I guess strike while the iron’s hot.

If there are some hits on this album it will have legs but otherwise I can see it being a hit of a flop in comparison to Short ‘n Sweet.
 
I see it as more of a Guts situation by Olivia Rodrigo. Hope it does better though!

The last track is the most ABBA pastiche that ever pastiched. Agnetha's nachos ABLAZE.
 
Yes, on one listen House Tour is the clear standout.

The rest is all 'oh, another Sabrina Carpenter album'.
 
this album is bad.

House Tour and When Did You Get Hot are good, and I enjoyed Goodbye with its hint if ABBA shimmer, but the rest is really quite crap I thought.
 
Playing it straight after the glorious new CMAT album was always going to cast it in an less favourable light, but I concur with the consensus. Rehash central.
 
It does feel rather like it would have been a cash-in re-release fifteen years ago and not an album in its own right, but it's perfectly pleasant in my opinion and the high points are lots of fun.
 
Having never heard a Sabrina Carpenter song other than the one about working late because I’m a singer I decided to play this while I work from home and it’s terribly boring. The ideal album to cause you to focus on your work.
 
I was shocked at how bored I was. It’s her voice. There’s just nothing there.
 
I’m somewhat underwhelmed on the first listen, but it could grow like S&S did. The second half is definitely stronger than the first half. Go Go Juice and House Tour seem like the obvious singles aside from Tears. Not sure if any of the above will take off like the big three from the last album.

Her voice while not bad is quite thin but I think it’s more the mixing than anything else that sounds off to me. S&S sounded more polished. This sounds a bit rushed.

of course House Tour is the highlight and the best thing of this (frankly) boring album because it sounds like nothing else from it; it also resembles Doja Cat's new one a lot, which tells us the new direction Jack might be taking and doing to DEATH.
I might be alone on this one, but a handful of tracks are giving Midnights-reject tracks energy :gross: Nobody's Son, My Man on Willpower, Sugar Talking, and Don't Worry.
 
It is giving Katy Perry energy with the attempt at pop humor. I don’t dislike it as a whole but I could see this kind of derailing her wave of success past week one, which should be big regardless.
