He's back with the lead single from his second album, White Lies, in March.



Be interesting to see if he can gain any traction this time around. He's sort of kept up his profile with the slightly questionable Amazon Christmas single, and of course he's very light entertainment friendly. His dropping last year really did feel a bit harsh considering the debut album was a Gold-selling #1.

If that's the video, "low-budget" doesn't even come to describe it.
The song is a bit screechy.
Yeah, I can only find faults.
 
I don't dislike the song, but would prefer it if it was sung by someone else.

You mean like Teddy Swims? Because it’s basically a wholesale ripoff of everything he’s done to date
 
What beef have I missed? Why has everyone turned on “ARR SAM”? 🤔
 
You know what, this one isn't that bad. It's the same old cod soul but his voice isn't as screamy and the production is actually on point.
 


Feels quite ambitious, but if it’s a one-off gig hopefully he can sell enough tickets to make it work.
 
He's playing Glastonbury, isn't he? I imagine that'll be great promo for him, if he gets a nice TV spot.
 
Without trying to sound like MegaDolly I don’t think it’s unachievable for him to fill a standard sized arena for a one night gig :D A few decent TV bookings over the next few months should probably help shift some tickets. It’s not like he’s trying to fill Wembley Stadium :D
 
I've no idea what size venues he's played before as part of his tours. I guess it's just fairly unusual to do a one off arena show, rather than as part of a larger tour.
 
Looking back at his previous performances, he seems to have done mostly festivals with his solo gigs in a variety of O2 Academies with 3000-ish capacity. I guess if they’ve been selling out, he may be testing the water in a larger venue without having to commit to a full tour.
 
Midweek #8 for the second album.

He’s had a lot of Radio 2 support but the streams are predictably fairly grim.
 
I saw him over the summer. He did a series of busking gigs in the three Essex towns he grew up around.

My thoughts were that he was more ginger than I anticipated. He was pretty tired as we were last, so he was kinda phoning in that Sam Ryder energy. He drew a remarkably large and excited crowd. He did a half arsed version of Spaceman. That is all.
 
Is his wembley arena show sold out or selling well? I was thinking he's lost momentum but seems to be ticking over

Tickets currently going for 75% off apparently :bruised:

It was always going to be an ambitious venue for him.
 
They still have centre front block (£51.50) on ticketmaster, and all blocks on the floor. I assume that's full price. No upper tier tickets availability showing, which presumably means that's being sectioned off.
 
Thank god I bought tickets during the presale!
 
Royal Albert Hall would have been more fitting for him, and sounds like he would struggle with that too at the moment, then.
 
#11 for the album. Kept out of the top 10 by week 633 of Oasis' Greatest Hits.

#4 on sales.

Interesting that it held up better than Miles Kane (5 in the midweeks to 13 in the chart), Of Monsters And Men (6 in the midweeks to 16 in the chart) and David Gilmour (7 in the midweeks to 12 in the chart).
