ASIDE: I can't believe this bitch never mustered a #1. Gotta Tell You even cracked AMERICA didn't it?! That said she really did have the CRUELLEST dropping ever, but I suppose it serves her right for passing up Sound of the Underground. But then that's one of pop's more interesting counterfactuals: what would have happened had useless old Sam picked it up and Girls Aloud not been able to?

Honestly, the production is quite CHEAP yet it's such a HAPPY pop tune that it doesn't matter. 10/10.

and VoR, it's a good thing she didn't release the second album, it was fuck awful! She'll awalys have a special in my heart though for introducing me to STARGATE and my penchant for plodding faux r&b produced songs.

Did you never see the bizarre documentary she did where they tried to re-launch her career but she basically had no motivation whatsoever?

I genuinely think she's happier making 2 straight to DVD movies a year than she ever was as a pop star.
 
I saw that documentary too. She couldn't even bother to turn up for recording sessions from what I remember.

And I like this song along with the other 5 singles of her album.

I don't really get it, Gotta Tell You was immense back in the day and I kind of liked Body to Body but that's about it.
 
Gotta Tell You is her best song, I agree. I can't believe a good quality version of the video is not on YouTube...
 
Gotta Tell You is obviously an 11/10 moment, but this totally is as well. I'm still a little BAFFLED when they re-released the album that they cut the rap out? I mean, it isn't a massive highlight but without it (and the grunts of the random dude) the song feels so...half done.

I occasionally forget just how fucking fabulous this is. It's like everything that 'Gotta Tell You' was trying not to be (and didn't this end up being her biggest selling hit?) and on a good day is literally DEATH BY KEY-CHANGE

Yep, this did 245k. Quite odd for a THIRD single to be the biggest, but I can totally see why - it's a brilliant pure pop track, totally fitting of the time

This is absolutely her best song. Gotta Tell You is good but I prefer the poppy sound to this.

Less said about Body II Body the better
 
I always secretly quite liked this song. In fairness, she had a couple I could happily listen to again now.

If I remember, she also had a terrible, Lil Bow Wow-lite brother called Omero. I know next to nothing about him but I assume he was a cunt.
 
Body II Body sounded great at the time (to me) and I think production wise it holds up, but the lyric change of the Bowie sample feels really cringey today.

I think this is the first Stargate song that actually sounded like it was by them, eh? It sounds like a Rihanna or Ne-Yo ballad, just with more early '00s production.

Samantha Mumba is playing The Wicked Stepmother in the Limerick city panto in my hometown of Limerick this Christmas.

I am thrilled that her musical comeback has reached such lofty heights already.
