Completely agree. Same on the island to be honest. If I live near the sea, I want to be within a few minutes walk of the beach.

We jumped off the train at Teignmouth on the way back. Getting dark, but a lovely red sky. The tide was right up to the sea wall so we couldn't go on the beach, but just walking along the promenade and hearing the sea was magical, even though at that stage we could barely see it. And it was freezing.

The idea of having the sea within a 5 minute walk is just so appealing, and only gets more so with time.

We get a lot of kids in the shop, from London, Birmingham etc that do residentials at UKSA. Usually teenagers, a lot have never even seen the sea before

I do believe that the closest beach to Birmingham is Weston Super Mare. No wonder they avoid it.
