Going to a whisky tasting this afternoon. The hospital's apparently on standby. :eyes:
 
I’m taking my Mum to see Abba Voyage today. She’s really nervous as it’s her first big outing like this in a long times and delving deeper into why she’s a bit anxious, she told me it was “that long journey and being able to use the loo”. :D

What I haven’t told her yet is that I’ve also forgotten to book a disabled parking space, now they’re all booked, so I’m going to have to manoeuvre her through Westfield parking and take her on a DLR in a wheelchair, so that’s going to be nice… :D :(

Pretend it was part of the plan and go on a shopping trip for a fancy cardy while you're there!

When we went to Voyage we were behind the disabled section and there's plenty of space for them to manoeuvre and go in out and if they need the loo or another bottle of prosecco :)

Enjoy Sheena. I love hearing about you and your mum. You really are a fantastic son, and hope my children look after me half as well when I get older.
 
Today is a football derby in Scotland and I agreed to have my son and 10 (!) friends over to which I shall cater to their every whim. They shall be well out of sight, but I am going to make a start on the buffet I promised them.

I've told her to whack a Tena on and just piss herself if it goes wrong.

I'm not sure the suggestion went down THAT well. :D

We need to book a group of six for one disabled person in the disabled area. I must contact them, because I have no idea if that's possible.

"She's very disabled and needs five carers"

I'll be interested to know how you get on with your mum, @Sheena. I've got vague plans of going with mine at some point next year. But she's waiting on a hip replacement with no date yet, so if I go ahead and book, theres a chance she may be in a wheelchair.

I get the impression that the venue itself is about as easy as it could be for disabled access, in terms of things like ramps and toilets. And something I've repeatedly seen in comments in various Facebook groups (and I think in our own thread) is how great the staff there are.

And as you know, you've got those bloody cartoons if your mum absolutely does need the toilet during the show.

That's a point I'd never considered actually, if you have one disabled person in a group of several, it seems harsh that only one can stay with them (I assume is the case for most places)

Yeah it's an extra variable. Some places can be very flexible. I found my experiences using a stick earlier this year at various venues very easy. But it was just me and Mr Ag.

From experience places often panic a little with the sight of wheelchairs and just agree to everything.

Yes it woke me up! :o

I didn’t realise it was an earthquake until I saw the news the next morning.
 
I remember the 2008 earthquake. I'd literally just finished a book, put it down and there was a really loud rumble. Then my bed started shaking and I noticed the liquids in my room sloshing around. It was very exciting!
